00:00Prepare yourselves! Prepare yourselves! Shut off the gas! Shut off electricity!
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the 10 most insane conspiracies about natural phenomena.
00:12Once people have formed a belief, or once people have encoded information into memory, it becomes extremely difficult to dislodge.
00:24Number 10. California drought manipulation and not-so-wild fires.
00:28As climate change-fueled blazes have descended on these parched landscapes, flames have jumped into treetops, creating devastating crown fires.
00:39For years, conspiracy theorists have claimed California's devastating droughts and wildfires weren't natural disasters.
00:46They blame everything from secret tech to government interference.
00:49Remember Marjorie Taylor Greene's Jewish space lasers?
00:52What about Jewish space lasers? Tell us about Jewish space lasers.
00:55No, why don't you go talk about Jewish space lasers?
00:58Others believe wildfires were intentionally started to force people off valuable land or clear the way for infrastructure projects.
01:05After fires tore through Paradise and Maui, conspiracy theories lit up too.
01:10TikTok was flooded with clips of untouched trees next to burned homes.
01:15People claimed the blazes were too clean, too targeted.
01:18Experts point to dry conditions, high winds, and aging infrastructure.
01:22But online, these claims spread faster than a brush fire.
01:26The choppers coming down to the river right here.
01:30They're picking up 2,000 to 3,000 gallons of water.
01:34And then they fly it right over here where the fire is spreading.
01:38Number 9. Tectonic bombs.
01:40Right now, I'm flying over the Hayward Fault, which many experts say is the most dangerous fault in America.
01:47What if earthquakes were less acts of God and more acts of war?
01:52That's the fear behind tectonic bomb conspiracies.
01:55The idea?
01:56Detonate a nuke underground, trigger a fault line, and boom, instant earthquake.
02:01The theory dates back to at least the Cold War, when both the US and USSR were rumored to be experimenting with seismic weapons.
02:19Some claim these earthquake machines are real and still in use.
02:23The American government, they say, uses nature's most savage forces to manipulate geopolitics to its will.
02:30Scientists say the logistics don't add up.
02:33But for conspiracy theorists, every quake has the government's fingerprints all over it.
02:38Even so, a major earthquake will do serious damage to many roads and Bay Area airports.
02:44So Caltrans has built what it calls Lifeline Routes, specific highways engineered to withstand the region's strongest expected earthquake.
02:53Number 8. Nibiru Cataclysm and Pole Shift.
02:56It's the doomsday theory that just won't die.
02:59Believers say that a hidden Planet X named Nibiru is lurking in the outer solar system.
03:04It's invisible to the public, somehow, while on a collision course with Earth.
03:09Believers in this doomsday event usually refer to this object as Planet X or Nibiru.
03:15The doomsday event?
03:17And when it gets close, it'll trigger a catastrophic pole shift, massive earthquakes, flooding, and wipe out modern civilization.
03:26So what happens next?
03:27Once the movement of our land masses comes to a halt, let's see a simulation, Scotty.
03:32We expect the formation of gigantic tsunamis, proportional to the magnitude of the corresponding quakes.
03:37The theory gained steam in the early 2000s, tied to apocalyptic predictions like the 2012 Mayan calendar scare.
03:46NASA has publicly debunked it multiple times, stating Nibiru doesn't exist.
03:51The paranoia lives on in the dark corners of the internet.
03:54Some say earthquakes and climate change are warning signs.
03:57The governments of the world are, of course, hiding the truth from us all to avoid global panic.
04:03Part of the doomsday rumor is that there will be a planetary alignment and that this will somehow damage the Earth.
04:09Well, they couldn't pick a worse time.
04:11In December 21st, there's no alignment.
04:13The planets are scattered all over the sky.
04:16Number seven, Iranian earthquakes are a nuclear cover-up.
04:19According to Red Crescent, three camps have been set up and rescue teams have been deployed in the region.
04:24When a major earthquake hit Iran in 2024, conspiracy theories came faster than the aftershocks.
04:30Some claimed it wasn't natural at all.
04:33The Earth shook thanks to a secret Iranian nuclear test gone wrong.
04:37Iran's underground facilities are being used to detonate nukes under the radar.
04:42The earthquakes, they say, are just the fallout.
04:44Videos and social media posts pointed to suspicious seismic readings and odd military movements.
04:50Some even accused Iran of staging quakes to hide weapons research.
04:55The internet has made up its mind.
04:56They're calling it a nuclear test.
04:58Iran's first underground nuclear test that may have led to the tremors.
05:03Scientists get deeply frustrated by the misinformation.
05:07The region sits directly above an active fault and has a long history of deadly tremors.
05:12But for conspiracy theorists, every tremor near a nuclear site raises both eyebrows and questions.
05:18You can see that basically, they're building these large underground cascade buildings here.
05:25Number six, the panoply of climate change conspiracies.
05:29Once information is out there, even if people might know that it is false, they continue to rely on it.
05:37To some conspiracy theorists, climate change isn't an existential crisis.
05:42It's a cover-up.
05:43A new climate change is a hoax theory seems to pop up every year.
05:47Rising temperatures and wild storms aren't caused by carbon emissions.
05:51No, no, no.
05:52They're deliberate manipulation.
05:53The culprit behind the curtain varies from theory to theory.
05:56There's plenty of research showing that exposure to misinformation about climate change
06:04leads people to take it less seriously and to be less willing to support policy actions.
06:13They range from governments and global elites to aliens or shady corporations.
06:18Someone is using geoengineering to reshape the planet.
06:21The motives are just as scattered.
06:23Profit, population control, white genocide, you name it.
06:27Some even believe billionaire-backed weather tech is fabricating disasters to drive up food prices or force migration.
06:34The science overwhelmingly supports human-caused climate change.
06:38For true believers, science is just smoke and mirrors.
06:42Making mistakes in our dealings with nature can have bigger consequences now
06:46because our technologies are often bigger than the human scale.
06:51When you put them all together, they've made us a force of nature.
06:54Number five, Fogvid-24.
06:57In 2024, dense, lingering fog rolled across parts of the UK, Canada, and the US.
07:02The lunatic fringe of the internet lost its mind.
07:05Dubbed Fogvid-24, the haze sparked conspiracy theories faster than it cleared up.
07:11Some claimed it was a secret government test.
07:13Others blamed alien activity, mind-control experiments, or chemical dispersal to calm the population.
07:20The fog is moving inland, away from the beach, towards Antonio Bay.
07:31TikTok lit up with videos of fog-blocking cell signals.
07:35Users claimed to have lost chunks of memory.
07:38Some even said that something in the fog took their pets and animals.
07:41One viral post suggested the fog itself was alive.
07:45Meteorologists blamed unusual climate conditions, but conspiracists wouldn't hear it.
07:50It was the perfect storm for conspiracy fodder.
07:52Creepy, unexplained, and everywhere.
07:55Number four, Jade Helm Paranoia.
07:57Dan Whitaker, owner of Dan's Guns and Stuff, LLC, says Jade Helm has been the talk of the town since April.
08:03And on Monday, the U.S. Army Special Operation Command released this statement, giving a little more insight on the operation that has sparked so much controversy.
08:14In 2015, a routine U.S. military training exercise called Jade Helm 15 spiraled into full-blown online chaos.
08:23Some believed the government was using the drill to prepare for martial law.
08:27Others went deeper down the rabbit hole.
08:29The real goal, they claimed, was to test weather weapons or stage a fake natural disaster.
08:33Where's Jade Helm? That's the questions everybody's asking because nobody has seen anything.
08:39Online theorists warned of engineered hurricanes, earthquakes, and even asteroid strikes.
08:44Walmart stores were rumored to be FEMA camps.
08:47Texas officials were so swamped with so many calls that they actually sent observers to monitor the exercise.
08:53To believers, Jade Helm was the dress rehearsal for Climate Doomsday.
08:57The actual exercises played out without incident, but the distrust it caused apparently encouraged Russian efforts to go even further.
09:06Number three, Israeli nukes and Fukushima.
09:09It was getting stronger and stronger.
09:12This was no ordinary quake.
09:14After the 2011 earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan, conspiracy theories wasted no time.
09:20The strangest, thankfully, didn't catch on.
09:23One man proposed that Israel planted a nuclear weapon at the Fukushima Daiichi plant.
09:28He claimed it was revenge for Japan siding with Palestine and the UN.
09:32No question that TEPCO, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, is primarily to be blamed.
09:41They were astonishingly unprepared for this complicated nuclear accident.
09:47The theory originated with conspiracy theorist Jim Stone.
09:50Stone said the plot had two stages.
09:52First, a bomb in the Pacific to generate a tsunami.
09:55Next, Israel detonated a bomb inside the facility that was smuggled in disguised as a camera.
10:01Scientists and global agencies have obviously debunked the theory, but in some corners of the internet, Fukushima was an act of nuclear sabotage hiding in plain sight.
10:11The prime minister asked to be kept informed of what was happening in Fukushima.
10:17But for now, the executives at TEPCO headquarters in Tokyo were in charge of tackling the nuclear emergency.
10:24Number two, U.S. mole men caused Haitian quakes.
10:27One of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, left in ruins.
10:31And a decade later, many are still haunted by the tragedy.
10:35The 2010 earthquake in Haiti absolutely devastated the small island nation, killing hundreds of thousands and displacing many more.
10:43In the years since, the internet reflected on the disaster with its usual insane lack of sensitivity.
10:49One conspiracy claimed the quake wasn't any normal government conspiracy.
10:54The U.S. government, they said, had sent in mole men.
10:57According to the story, American forces were digging secret tunnels beneath the Caribbean.
11:02Their machines accidentally triggered seismic activity.
11:06Some posts even claimed the mission was to fight underground aliens.
11:09The theory was filled with fake maps, military slang, and zero evidence.
11:14Still, it spread across forums and blogs like wildfire.
11:18In fact, in 2008, five scientists issued a paper predicting a 7.2 magnitude quake along this fault.
11:26Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
11:31You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.
11:35If you're on your phone, make sure you go into settings and switch on your notifications.
11:42Number one, HAARP, chemtrails and weather control.
11:45The military has very different plans and asks different questions looking at the same system than the scientist who's interested in medical issues or healing the planet.
11:58The skies are being weaponized by the world governments.
12:01At the center of the plot is HAARP, a real U.S. research program in Alaska.
12:05If there was a natural disaster, there's a good chance HAARP was at one point blamed for it.
12:10They've been accused of steering hurricanes, triggering quakes, and mind control.
12:15Add chemtrails, and the theory gets even weirder.
12:18Jets spraying chemicals to control weather, behavior, or both.
12:22Scientifically, they're called condensation trails.
12:25Con trails for short.
12:26So what you're really doing is you're sort of artificially generating a cloud.
12:30It's like a long, white cloud.
12:32That's essentially what it is.
12:33That's right.
12:34One viral claim says hurricanes are aimed at Republicans.
12:38Others blame weather tech for floods in Brazil.
12:41The U.K.'s Project Cumulus was tied by theorists to the deadly 1952 Linmouth flood.
12:46In 2008, China's Weather Modification Office reportedly cleared skies for the Beijing Olympics.
12:53Proof, some say, that weather can be controlled.
12:57Farmer's research indicates that the extremely low-frequency waves would be capable of penetrating several kilometers into the Earth,
13:04ferreting out nuclear storage facilities, and other underground military installations.
13:10Which of these conspiracies got under your skin?
13:12Let us know in the comments below.
13:14Anything that HAARP can do to the magnetic field is orders of magnitude smaller than the natural variations of the Earth's field.
13:21So I would have to say, no, there's nothing we can do to affect the salmon.
