You're here today for this anti-Trump protest in the middle of Aberdeen. Tell me why you're here today.
00:05
So I'm here in Aberdeen to stand in solidarity with people from Aberdeen, from Aberdeenshire,
00:09
and actually from across the northeast of Scotland who are saying that Trump is not welcome here.
00:15
He is not welcome in Scotland. He's certainly not welcome in Aberdeenshire.
00:19
We know that he is a convicted felon. He's convicted of many offences in the United States
00:25
and he has other sexual offence cases hanging over him as we speak.
00:30
We also know that all the promises that he has repeatedly made to Scotland have come to nothing.
00:36
We haven't seen the development of jobs or of houses to the numbers that he promised
00:41
when he opened his first golf course in Aberdeenshire a few years ago.
00:45
And we know that the things that he's done since as president has seen people stripped of their dignity and rights.
00:53
He's called for the annexation of the West Bank and to build a glorified holiday resort.
01:02
This is ethnic cleansing that he's calling for.
01:05
And I think it's really, really important that in Scotland we stand up and say Trump is not welcome here.
01:09
His politics are not welcome here.
01:11
We stand for everything he opposes.
01:14
We stand for the rights of people.
01:16
We stand for the rights of the people of Gaza, of Palestine.
01:20
And it's important that we make our views known.
01:23
I mean, I think it's questionable whether the US is still the most powerful country in the world.
01:29
So I think there's a question over that.
01:31
But I think actions matter.
01:33
And courting, speaking to somebody, welcoming him, somebody like Trump to Scotland,
01:40
says something about the kind of politics that the Scottish government is willing to engage in.
01:45
And that's just not the kind of politics that we should be willing to engage in as a country who stands up for human rights,
01:51
as a country who should stand up for dignity for all, as a country who should stand against war crimes.
01:56
You know, we don't accept that just because he's the president of another state, he should be welcomed with open arms.
02:05
There are plenty of leaders of countries around the world that we would condemn outright,
02:10
that the Scottish government could have no problem condemning outright.
02:12
We don't see why, just because he's wealthy, just because he funnels billions of pounds into the pockets of his billionaire pals,
02:20
why that should give him a free pass in Scotland.
02:23
So do you think John Swinney and the Scottish government should have acted differently in relation to this Trump?
02:27
Yes, we do not think that the Scottish government should be welcoming Trump to Scotland.
02:32
Your party today has called for the government to seek an unexplained wealth order in relation to assets here in Scotland.
02:40
Tell us more about that.
02:40
Yeah, so we know that Trump owns property in Scotland, not only the golf courses,
02:46
but, you know, we need to be certain that he has not broken any laws here in Scotland.
02:52
The Scottish Greens have repeatedly been calling for an unexplained wealth order into Trump's finances.
02:58
We know he's been convicted in the US of a whole series of allegations.
03:05
He has those convictions.
03:07
We know that there are dodgy business deals that he is engaged in.
03:11
And nothing like that should be happening in Scotland without investigation.
03:15
And certainly no public money should be going towards Trump resorts,
03:19
towards Trump golf courses, to the enrichment of him and his billionaire pals.
03:24
No public money.
03:24
No public money.
03:25
No public money betting.
03:29
Doing hellIs he a lot of money?
03:29
Over and over?
03:31
Well, Sam, you talk with me there until after this stuff,
03:33
those people that have beenaciegen acquisites.
03:35
Yeah.
03:36
So you don't remember what is the name comes to this man
03:36
because it was my National Alto스트 Incorporated if it is found out of the United States or
03:52
people who taught you.
