00:30It has been a year since Venezuelan head of state Nicolás Maduro won the presidential

00:35elections. During that election campaign, his promises revolved around seven transformations

00:40that he considered and continues to consider necessary for the economic and social advancement

00:46of his country. In January of this year, he officially began his new term, and without

00:52delay, the first thing he did was to enact that government plan into law. So we then

00:58began a special journey, seeking to show what path he is following and how Venezuela is moving

01:04forward. Here is our first story with the key word stability.

01:08The heat of the Venezuelan capital subsides as you climb the Guarayra de Pano. It means

01:17this big mountain, and it is the lung of Caracas. You can climb on foot, or a completely renovated

01:23cable car takes you to the top. At almost 3,000 meters, the climate changes. At this time

01:29of year, the fog envelops visitors. Venezuela is beautiful in any weather. We have it all.

01:40The beach, river, savanna, plain, El Junquito, La Colonia, wherever you want to go, it's

01:46there. The Guarayra de Pano is spectacular, beautiful. It has been completely remodeled,

01:52very nice. I had come here long before it was renovated. The beautiful can be seen from

01:57up here, super beautiful, and the country well, recovering, recovering. And it is in public

02:05spaces where it is most visible. For example, this square, which was recently restored, and

02:14is also close to the National Art Gallery. It is significant that next to this art gallery,

02:20there is this square, which is also conductive to enjoying the liberation of art from culture

02:27and from what we are as Venezuelans. Here, families from different parts of the city gather, many

02:34from popular neighborhoods that were considered high-risk areas.

02:38I am from Petare, and before, you couldn't walk around Petare. Now, the harmony in Petare

02:45is such that I can even meditate. Before, you couldn't take out your cell phone, and now,

02:50I can walk around freely and enjoy the company, and enjoy the journey without worrying about

02:55the destination. Peaceful coexistence stands out in the streets. There is no longer as much

03:02political problems as we had months or years ago, when we were killing each other. At least

03:06now we are sharing, living. Household consumption has increased. This is the predominant opinion.

03:17Despite the situation with the dollar and our economy, which is in another currency but is based on that,

03:24yes, the salaried worker sector, to which I belong, has noticed that everyone has seen a significant

03:32improvement in their purchasing power and the things they buy, the level of appliances, food,

03:39who have vehicles, the issue of fuel, and all those things, despite the limitations, is moving.

03:47The highest authority in the South American nation affirms that the trend is towards sustained growth

03:52after a network manipulating that parallel dollar was shut down in May.

03:56A new economic model is being built with our own efforts and resources. In the second quarter,

04:05the numbers are already consolidating with 6.65% growth in the real economy. It was a difficult

04:14second quarter because they tried to waste economic war on us again, but we are now more solid. We are

04:20now more robust. But how do experts explain stability?

04:28The government adopted a public policy on an important economic issue. There is economic

04:34dynamism, an agreement between the government, the private sector, and the community, and that has

04:39been a fundamental element for political stability. Of course, the economic and financial blockade affected

04:45the country's macroeconomy and the state's resource capability. However, I believe that appropriate

04:53measures have been taken in the context of domestic economic policy. And there is also an important

05:00international dynamic where the blockade has, admittedly, affected us. We have already had the

05:07strategic resilience to move forward.

05:14Nicolás Maduro has six years in office. The challenges that have been set for this period

05:19include modernizing the economy, threatening education, consolidating direct democracy,

05:25combating climate change, shaping international relations. And one point that stands out is the
