00:00Welcome
00:29to the heart of Victoria's Pyrenees Wine Region, where art, history and community converge.
00:34Here, with a fitting addition to the trail, you'll find the Avoca Silo Art Mural, a glowing
00:39tribute to the region's rich culture and its deep connection to the land. Painted in 2022
00:44by renowned Warrnambool artist Jimmy Buscombe, the Avoca Silo Art showcases the Barking Owl,
00:50one of Australia's lesser-seen nocturnal birds and a species native to this very region, perched
00:55calmly on a tree branch set above the rolling Pyrenees hills. This artwork speaks to the
01:00Avoca community's connection with nature and conservation. The mural captures the powerful
01:05presence of this rare bird, showing it as fittingly being both majestic and vulnerable. The detail
01:10is exquisite, every feather, every shadow, painted with purpose. And yet, there's something
01:15even more remarkable. At night, the Avoca Silo Art transforms. Using a world-first combination
01:21of UV reactive paint and strategically placed lighting, the mural glows in the dark. As the
01:26sun sets, an entirely new image emerges, featuring what could be interpreted to be a starry night sky,
01:32or an abundant glowworm colony glowing amidst aurora australis like luminous shades. It's
01:37the first Silo Art installation in the world to glow at night, a bold fusion of science and
01:41storytelling that sets Avoca apart on the Australian Silo Art Trail. This isn't just about art,
01:47it's about innovation, identity and pride. It's about drawing people to regional towns to pause,
01:52appreciate and connect. Avoca invites you to slow down, to take in the beauty by day and the magic by
01:58night. So whether you're touring the Pyrenees wine region, exploring the gold fields, or following
02:03the Silo Art Trail across Australia, don't miss the Avoca Silo Art.
