00:00If you are coming to the beach, avoid taking any inflatables into the sea.
00:04It's generally not considered safe, especially when the wind is blowing offshore.
00:08It can be really easy to get blown out to sea.
00:11And generally, we're the ones who have to come out and help you.
00:14So if you are coming to the beach, don't take any inflatables.
00:17They're designed for the pool, not for the sea.
00:20If you do find yourself struggling in the sea, spread out your arms and legs and make a star shape.
00:25Lay on your back and float to live.
00:26So look up to the sky and shout for help.
00:30Or if you see anybody struggling in the water, any sort of marine emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
00:38And then they've got a method of communication where they can send help to either us or to the relevant agencies.
00:46So I think one of the biggest safety messages I can recommend here is just make sure you swim at a lifeguarded beach.
00:52If you're unsure where your nearest lifeguarded beach is, we've got a brilliant website, either on the RNLI Zone website or on a Coast Guard website.
01:01And you can have a look where your nearest lifeguarded beach is.
01:04When you get to the lifeguarded beach, make sure you are swimming in between the red and yellow flags.
01:08So we've obviously got one here and then one a bit further up north.
01:12And that is your safe swimming area.
01:14It's also the area that we're patrolling.
01:16So it's where we can respond to you the quickest.
01:20You can do that and you're just like a guy.
01:21Maybe never be a animal.
