00:00A couple believed to be involved in drug trafficking has been remanded after leading police on a 13-kilometer car chase in Malacca, which left a police officer injured.
00:09The remand order, effective until July 28, was issued by Magistrate Uthman Abdul Ghani at the Ayer Kero Magistrate's Court on Wednesday to assist investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Penal Code.
00:24The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday when a motorcycle patrol unit attempted to stop a car at Taman Anika Apartments in Lorong Pandan.
00:35The vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old man, had his 28-year-old girlfriend in the passenger seat.
00:42The suspects sped off, driving recklessly, ignoring traffic lights and endangering other motorists.
00:48The chase ended in Taman Bukit Rambai, where the suspects reversed the car and rammed into a police motorcycle, causing minor injuries to a lance corporal.
00:58A search of the car uncovered two transparent packets believed to contain heroin, along with a digital weighing scale.
