The recall is due to a fire hazard
Transcript
00:00Attention Ford owners, a major recall you need to know about.
00:04Ford is recalling nearly 700,000 Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs over a fuel injector that could crack and leak and potentially lead to engine fires.
00:13The recall covers Bronco Sports made from 2021 to 2024 and Escapes made from 2020 to 2022 with one and a half liter engines.
00:22This isn't a new problem, though. Ford first flagged the issue back in November of 2022 and tried to fix it with new software that could detect a fuel leak and prevent a fire from starting.
00:34But in July of 2024, a vehicle caught on fire despite receiving the software upgrade.
00:40So far, eight underhood fires have been reported, six of which involve vehicles without the updated software.
00:46According to the recall notice, a remedy is currently under development, but dealers will continue to update the engine control software free of charge.
00:55That'll do it for your daily briefing. From the New York Stock Exchange, I'm Caroline Woods with The Street.
