00:00Welcome, fellow dreamers and wanderers, to Fireside Fantasies.

00:06Pull up a chair, stoke the embers, and prepare to journey into worlds unseen.

00:11Tonight, we begin a new tale, a six-episode miniseries we call The Onyx Chime.

00:17In a kingdom slowly being erased by a magical silence that steals memories and identity,

00:23a disgraced royal archivist must team up with a blind oracle

00:27to find the source of the affliction before the world forgets it ever existed.

00:33This is episode one, The Hollowed Man.

00:39They called it memory decay, a natural erosion of time, they said, the forgetting.

00:45But I knew better, I always knew better.

00:48For years, the grand archives of Viridia have been my sanctuary and my prison.

00:54Disgraced, they said, obsessive, because I saw the cracks before the frescoes fell,

01:00before the words began to wither from the page.

01:06No, no, no, not there, it was here.

01:13His chief advisor, Lord Valerius.

01:17His name was Valerius, the architect of the great dam.

01:21Everyone knew Valerius.

01:23He stood against the northern incursions and now it's just a blank.

01:27A space where a name, a history, a man once was, like he never mattered.

01:32It began with the books, then the plaques, the statues, and then the people.

01:40They called them hollowed, not dead.

01:43Oh no, far worse, it's spreading, faster now.

01:46They don't see it, they don't remember it.

01:48Theron says, excuse me, excuse me, I need to see him.

01:54Is Councilman Arian here, the, the fiery one?

01:57The one who argued so passionately about the water rights last week?

02:01Then the attendant in a flat and polite tone replies,

02:04Councilman Arian, sir.

02:06I'm afraid I don't recall a council member of that description.

02:09We have only the servants attending the chamber.

02:12Theron insists, no, no, you must.

02:18Councilman Arian, tall, distinctive scar above his left eye, booming voice.

02:24We were just debating.

02:26He was furious with my theories on the laps.

02:29The attendant responds still with that emotionless voice.

02:32Ah, you mean this fellow, perhaps?

02:35He handles the scrolls, always has.

02:38A quiet sort, useful for organizing.

02:41And then the hollowed man speaks, his voice flat and monotone.

02:46More scrolls.

02:47Lord Theron, as you wish.

02:50They go here, precisely here.

02:55Theron gasps, barely able to get the words out.

02:58Arian, is that?

03:00But your voice?

03:01Your eyes?

03:03The hollowed man answers, without a hint of feeling,

03:06I am merely sorting scrolls, as I always do.

03:09There is a precise order.

03:12And then, in Theron's own thoughts, it was Arian.

03:15But it wasn't.

03:16The fire was gone, the fury extinguished.

03:19His face was the same, but the life behind his eyes,

03:22the spark of personality that made him him, had vanished.

03:26And no one, not even the people he worked with daily,

03:29remembered him as anything more than a dull utility.

03:33He was a ghost in the flesh, unwritten from the world's memory.

03:38A counter-melody, it has to be, something to push back.

03:45But what causes it?

03:47What can unwrite a man?

03:48A city?

03:52Days blurred into nights.

03:54The taste of dust.

03:56The scent of forgotten wisdom.

03:58I scoured the forbidden texts.

04:00The ones whispered about in the dark corners of the Royal Library.

04:04The ones my colleagues dismissed as mad ramblings.

04:07Until I found it.

04:09A single, brittle page.

04:11The lapse is not a plague of decay, but a void of sound.

04:16Not an illness, but an absence.

04:19A specific, unnatural silence that devours memory, identity and existence.

04:25A sound that unwrites.

04:30A sound that unwrites.

04:33And then...

04:35The only known counter-melody is found in the echoes of the world.

04:39Heard only by those who listen without sight.

04:43The oracles of the sightless crag.

04:46A place of myth.

04:49Of isolated seers who commune with the very fabric of existence.

04:53Feared.

04:54Remote.

04:55My only hope.

04:59Theron whispers to himself.

05:01The star chart, handed down from my great-grandmother.

05:04Her directions to the crag were always dismissed as fanciful scribblings.

05:09Now, I pray they are true.

05:11As he moves purposefully, the muffled city sounds return,

05:15though still with that odd flat quality.

05:18He passes through a heavy door,

05:21and the creak of old wood signals the city gates opening.

05:25The night wind is quiet, but distinct,

05:28as his footsteps crunch on dirt, moving away from the city.

05:32Theron's voice echoes in his mind.

05:38Viridia sleeps.

05:39Unaware its very history is being eroded, one forgotten name at a time.

05:44But I will not forget.

05:45I cannot.

05:46His footsteps fade into the distance, and the unnatural silence from the archives grows, becoming more prominent.

05:53A final lingering shot of the archives reveals a faint rustling sound like parchment disintegrating.

06:03As Lord Theron steps out into the enveloping night, leaving behind a kingdom unaware of its fading past the delicate balance of Viridia shifts,

06:12the silence spreads, insidious and unseen.

06:16On his discarded desk, the ancient tome, the history of the Viridian Council, lies open.

06:25As the unnatural silence hums, the elegant calligraphy of its title slowly, irrevocably fades into blank parchment.

06:32The world forgets, and Theron races against oblivion.

06:36A chilling, subtle whoosh sounds, as if something vital has just been erased.

06:41Join us next time on the Onyx Chime, as Theron embarks on his perilous journey across the Forgotten Lands,

06:51seeking the wisdom of the Oracles, and confronting the true nature of the Laps.
