Alaska Airlines briefly grounded all flights Sunday evening due to an IT outage, according to Reuters. The Seattle-based carrier initiated the ground stop on Sunday night and lifted it three hours later, warning of continued disruptions as it repositions planes and crews. Alaska did not disclose the nature of the outage. It follows a similar incident in April 2024 involving aircraft weight and balance systems. In June, a hack disrupted some IT systems at Hawaiian Airlines, and Alaska Air Group is still assessing the financial impact. Alaska's IT issues come amid warnings from Google and Palo Alto Networks about the "Scattered Spider" hacking group's focus on the aviation sector.
