00:00Landman Season 2 just got an official release date, and we need to talk about it.

00:05So, as you might remember, in Season 1, we were thrown into this intense world of West Texas oil.

00:12Think of roughnecks, corporate deals, environmental pushback. I mean, you name it.

00:17At the center of it all was Tommy, played by Billy Bob Thornton.

00:20He's a crisis manager, which basically means he runs around putting out fires for an oil company.

00:25But those fires? They weren't just literal. He was juggling drama from every direction,

00:31from his personal life to workers out on the rigs, government regulators, oil execs, and protesters.

00:37So, pretty much every type of chaos you can imagine.

00:40And by the time we hit the Season 1 finale, those fires were completely out of control.

00:46Tommy got kidnapped and tortured by the cartel. Like, really tortured.

00:50For a second, it genuinely felt like he wasn't going to make it.

00:54But then, boom, Andy Garcia's character Galeno showed up.

00:59And instead of killing Tommy, he offered him a deal.

01:02Suddenly, Landman became much more about oil.

01:05Honestly, I'm hoping Season 2 goes full Game of Thrones with it.

01:09Interestingly, Billy Bob is also thinking along the same lines.

01:13He recently said,

01:14We're in a chess match now. Am I in cahoots with criminals?

01:17Then he added,

01:18Tommy's not up against henchmen anymore.

01:20He's facing someone just as smart and powerful as he is.

01:22Billy Bob also opened up about working with Andy Garcia, saying,

01:27We've known each other for years but had never worked together until now.

01:31Andy's a little fancier than I am, but what we did felt supernatural and real.

01:35Plus, he did save my butt at the end there.

01:38Now let's talk about that other big shocker in the finale.

01:41I think you guys all remember the fact that Monty Miller, played by Jon Hamm, died during surgery.

01:47Needless today, that was a huge plot point.

01:49He was one of the top energy execs, and with him gone, there's a massive power vacuum.

01:55Even though Monty won't be in Season 2, his absence is going to shake up everything.

02:00The good news is, Landman is officially coming back for a second season,

02:04as Paramount confirmed the renewal in March 2025.

02:07Honestly, I didn't doubt it for a second.

02:11The show pulled in 35 million views for its premiere,

02:14making it not just the biggest debut for any Taylor Sheridan series,

02:18but also the most watched global premiere and finale for any Paramount Plus original, period.

02:24It even beat Tulsa King and Lioness in Q4 2024.

02:28So, needless to say, this show basically blew up.

02:31Now here's something that threw me off at first.

02:34Season 2 won't be filming in Texas.

02:36Instead, they've moved production to Durant, Oklahoma.

02:39At first I was like, wait, what?

02:41But then casting calls started rolling in, and it all made sense.

02:45The short answer is, the story's expanding.

02:48One of the biggest new locations is going to be a fancy casino,

02:51most likely the Choctaw Casino and Resort.

02:54They were casting for extras to play casino patrons,

02:56glamorous young women, rich guys, and even a middle-aged guy who checks them out.

03:02So, yeah, this place isn't just for show.

03:04Sounds like we're diving into money laundering, crime, and the darker side of oil wealth.

03:09I wouldn't be surprised if the casino turns out to be a front for cartel activity,

03:13or a place where dirty money gets cleaned and turned into influence.

03:17And that's not all.

03:18We're also getting 30 roughnecks with trucks,

03:21which means the oil field action is here to stay.

03:24That's what keeps the show grounded in reality.

03:27Plus, there was a casting call for a Demi Moore body double,

03:30which suggests her character's going to see some action.

03:33Maybe a chase? A fight?

03:35Let me know what kind of scenes you think Demi might be jumping into.

03:39Now, here's the part that got me really hyped for the new season,

03:42which is two major casting additions for season two.

03:46First up, Sam Elliott is joining the show.

03:48No word yet on who he's playing, but let's be honest,

03:51he was made for this world.

03:53I could totally see him as a rival oil man, a fixer,

03:56or even someone from Tommy's past.

03:58Then there's Stefania Spampanato.

04:00You probably know her from Grey's Anatomy and Station 19.

04:04She's going to play Galeno's wife, and her role is recurring.

04:07That tells me she's not just a background character.

04:10She'll probably be a major player in whatever the cartel's planning behind closed doors.

04:15Filming kicked off in early summer 2025,

04:17and while we don't have an official release date just yet,

04:21all signs point to late 2025,

04:24most likely November or December.

04:26That lines up with Paramount's usual fall drop schedule

04:29and gives them plenty of time for editing and promo.
