Kane Brown | Gym & Fridge | Men's Health
Transcript
00:00Hey Kane, it's Men's Health. We're here to see your gym and fridge.
00:08Hey Men's Health.
00:11Let's come on in.
00:22Let's go check out your fridge.
00:25Welcome to my house.
00:27My wife just redid the kitchen, so it's really easy for me to eat healthier because my wife threw anything out that is not healthy for me, so it forced me to eat pretty clean.
00:39So this is my fridge.
00:41If this was a couple years ago, this would be a lot of frozen pizzas. Pop-Tarts wouldn't go in here, but I'd be eating a lot of Pop-Tarts, Doritos, all your junk food.
00:52And now, everything in here gluten-free. I don't drink any kind of sodas anymore, and if I do, it's either Olipop or Poppy, which are actually prebiotics, so they're good for your stomach.
01:06Yeah, everything's really organic and neat and clean.
01:09What do you always have in your fridge?
01:12Cake pops, which these are delicious. I don't know the actual ingredients in here, but I love these things. I know almond butter, oats, and chocolate chips, as my wife is behind y'all telling me everything.
01:23How has your diet changed over time?
01:27My diet has changed tremendously, especially this year. I've tried, I think it's called sauté spinach the other day. I ate salmon the other day, which I don't do.
01:38And I'm really just trying to eat as much greens as I can. I remember we were at the airport, and instead of going around the buffet and getting different things, I just had a whole plate of broccoli.
01:47So I don't know how I'm doing this, but I'm doing it, and you can too. And then that has actually got me into eating other greens. I used to only eat green beans and peas, and green grapes.
01:59Wow, okay.
02:00Now I eat a lot of stuff.
02:02What does your diet mainly consist of?
02:04My diet really consists of meat, like chicken, steak, and then of course fruit, and a cake pop every now and then. But I am drinking a lot of water, which I also just started doing.
02:15I used to think if I drank a Yoo-Hoo, that that was enough water. And so that's changed a lot.
02:21What's the first thing you eat or drink in the morning?
02:23First thing I eat or drink in the morning, I always work out in the mornings. So I usually have 16 ounces of water with my pre-workout. And then I usually come back down. There's this amazing burrito that I have found from Red Bicycle.
02:36It's just like potatoes, meat, and eggs. I think it's beef, sausage. Yeah.
02:43Do you know how to cook?
02:44I do not cook. I'm a terrible cook. There's nothing to even talk about because I can't cook.
02:49What's your go-to comfort food?
02:51Go-to comfort food. So up at the gym, when we go up there, you'll see we have a candy bar. Every time I'd get done working out or during my workout, I'd have about four to five Reese cups. And I would say, you know what? I'm working out. And peanut butter is protein. And I cut that out. No more.
03:07What's your go-to protein? My go-to protein now, cake pops. You know, protein shakes, they're really easy. They cause a mess. And then you got to do the dishes and that's every day. When I do drink protein shakes, it's normally just like peanut butter and the protein. When I make them, it's disgusting. So I usually try to buy them from places. And then normally they put bananas in them. I really don't like bananas and I hate the taste, but I've just been getting through it. Hopefully I end up loving bananas soon.
03:34How do you stay healthy on the road? So how I stay healthy on the road, it's a little bit harder. 2025 has started my new resolution. No nicotine. Stopped biting my nails. And I try to work out every day. I haven't started tour yet. We're about to. That's when it's probably going to get tricky. And the hardest part is usually after show food because that's when we get fast food. That's when you're going to have to come back and ask me if I'm still doing good.
03:57What do you like to eat before a performance? So no snacks for me. I will say I tend to drink a little tequila, which I'm also trying to wean off of. I would love to not have to use it for a show. It usually helps me get my energy up and bring Cain Brown out on stage.
04:15What do you grab from your fridge at 2 a.m.? If I'm hungry at 2 a.m., usually cake pops, but I'll go through these pretty quick even though they're for my kids. I'll grab about four or five out of here. And then if they're not there, then I'll grab an apple. I'll just say this. My favorite thing about an apple is not eating the apple whole. It's getting a little cutter and put on a napkin. You do it and then it's like six pieces. And I feel like it fills you up better than just eating a regular apple. I don't know. It's a trick though. Learned it. Love it. Do it.
04:44What's your go-to cheat meal? I don't really have a cheat day in 2025 so far because I feel like if you do a cheat day, then that's just going to lead to more cheat days. So if you can just knock cheat days out and whole, you'll better yourself. I'm getting older, 31. I know I'm still young, but to me I feel old and I'm trying to be a baby forever. But now, since I don't really know much about the fridge, I'm going to take you out to something that I do know a lot about. So we're going to go to the gym. Okay? So let's go.
05:14All righty. So, here's my gym. A lot of free weight and a lot of Smith machine stuff. So you can get both workouts in.
05:28How often do you work out?
05:29I try to work out every day, especially if I'm at home. And one of the things that I do, just like a free bar. So this is a little bit heavier. I usually do about 65. And the goal is, on an off day, you want to do like 25 curls.
05:44Then you would go to 25 behind the head. This is, like I said, this is my off day. So when you get that, you get a nice pump. So it gets your heart rate going. You can tell. I just did nine reps. I'm out of breath.
06:04And it just gets you looking right. Get you pumped. Walking around looking good.
06:09What do you consider an intense workout?
06:11An intense workout? This is extreme, right? So even my friends tell me I'm crazy. But recently, I've been doing my regular workouts.
06:19And then I've been having a personal trainer come in and really working out with me. And I'll just tell you, I have a full basketball court in there.
06:28And the other day, he had us lean forward back pushups on the wall. And then the next minute, we did shoulder touches, holding ourself up.
06:36We were really getting our abs because that's what I'm trying to focus on. And then we had to, we put towels on our hands.
06:41We had to push all the way down the court with our feet and our hands on the towel. And I had to do the touches again and the leaning pushups.
06:50And I had to put the towels on my feet and pull myself the other length of the basketball court. That's what I say is an intense workout.
06:57Something to get your heart rate going. And that's just a warm up.
07:00What's your favorite exercise?
07:02Legs is my favorite exercise of all time. I'm just kidding. I really want a chest. And so, of course, bench.
07:10But for some reason, my back and my shoulders take over. So that's why my back and my shoulders are the biggest part of my body.
07:18What keeps you motivated?
07:19I have two little girls that are eventually going to be bringing boyfriends around. I want to be ready for them.
07:27I'm just kidding. But I'd say the other thing would be a better version of you.
07:32And I do play a lot of video games. And I could be that guy that just plays video games and wastes away.
07:36But there's something about just looking right. And I'm in front of the camera quite a bit. So that's awesome motivation.
07:44What's your favorite part of working out?
07:45My favorite part of working out is just how I feel afterwards. I love the pump. Everybody loves a good pump.
07:52Just feeling accomplished, you know. There's nothing better than that feeling, honestly.
07:57How do you keep your mind fit?
07:58I will say, depending on how you feel, like I go through depression a lot. So anytime I'm feeling down on myself or feel any kind of anger, the gym really helps me because it just takes all that away.
08:09Especially if I'm a little angry. That's when I decide to lift more weight and really push and basically just try to break myself.
08:17But yeah. I don't know if that sounded very dark.
08:22Your latest single features Jelly Roll, who is also an advocate for mental health.
08:26How do you two positively influence one another when it comes to mental health?
08:30I don't know how I influence Jelly, but Jelly influences me just by being himself and speaking out.
08:37And he's really just a preacher. I mean, he could sell you a car that he don't have.
08:42You know what I mean? Like he's just, he's just that guy. And I knew he was right for the song.
08:48What music do you listen to when you work out?
08:50Oh man. When I work out, it is pretty much screamo. If my wife comes in here, she takes over the speakers and it's just, it's terrible.
08:59I mean, it's great music, but it's not working out music. It's like, just bench and just in your AirPods, just put on a Celine Dion and see how that goes for anybody trying to lift heavy.
09:10Do you have any meaningful tattoos?
09:11Um, I'll say my meaningful tattoos. I got a couple. I'll start with, I got my wife's name.
09:18I have a rose for her middle name. I have my daughter's name. And then my oldest, the Kings.
09:23And I have to get my son. And then I just got this. This is really cool. It's a diamond. I got it in Europe.
09:29There might be more now, but I was like the fifth, fifth or sixth, uh, song. Huh?
09:36Seven.
09:36Seven?
09:37Seven.
09:38Shit.
09:38Eight. So I was the, I got this in Europe because I was the seventh, um, country song to go diamond in ever. It's pretty cool. Six sounded better, but seventh. I'll take it.
09:50All right. It's rapid fire time. Squat or deadlift?
09:55Ooh, squat.
09:57Favorite song on playlist?
09:58Ah, uh, I don't even know. I just, I just randomize, honestly.
10:04Crossfit. Yay or nay?
10:05I mean, it works.
10:06Pull-ups or chin-ups?
10:08Pull-ups.
10:09Dumbbells or kettlebells?
10:11Dumbbells.
10:11Run on the treadmill or the great outdoors?
10:13Ah, treadmill.
10:15Cardio or weights?
10:16Weights.
10:16Big legs or big arms?
10:19Oh, man. I'm gonna say both.
10:22Biggest compliment? Jacked, ripped, cut or swole?
10:25Olive, bub.
10:26If you could work out with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
10:30Arnold.
10:32All right. I already, uh, I already did my workout this morning. Y'all making me do more. See, y'all can, y'all can head on out. I appreciate y'all, though.
