00:18So what have you been doing since last time we saw you? Just touring, recording?
00:21I've been writing and recording an album.
00:24The album comes out in about five weeks' time, it's called Now and Forever.
00:27And the single was that last week.
00:29Have you written it all?
00:30I've written quite a lot of it, yeah.
00:31There's various different songwriters, some here and some in New York.
00:35And it's a sort of soul, R&B-flavoured sort of dance album.
00:39Right.
00:39So I'm really happy with it.
00:41You seem very, very, in terms of your career, it's all very settled now, isn't it?
00:44I mean, you can really kind of pick your own music and do it in your own time.
00:48And, you know, the public will still come along and buy the records and everything.
00:50I hope that they'll still come along and buy the records.
00:53But I'm in a position where I can make exactly the sort of music that I want to.
00:57And that's what I've really done with this album.
01:00Because last year we were doing the greatest hits and we had the greatest hits album out.
01:04And we got to the end of that and I felt like it was time to just assess what was going on and do something different.

02:04and I sort of hung on to a pole and sort of fell on my bum very hard.

02:10Does the balance feel that precarious?
02:12It's really precarious because when I was a kid,
02:14I went ice skating and ended up in hospital
02:15and I was terrified about learning and then,
02:18but I saw people do it on the TV and I thought,
02:20this looks such fun, you know.

02:22I want it to be me.

02:23And so it is me now.
02:25I go most weekends with my mates and have a really good time.
02:28I thought that about windsurfing.
02:29And I learnt to windsurfing, oh, God, in 1982 or something.
02:31You've never done it since.
02:32But I did it.
02:32I learnt, a German bloke taught me on a Greek island.
02:35And the thing about that is when you fall off,
02:36you just land in the water, you know.
02:37I mean, but this thing.
02:38But, you know, you can do anything.

02:42and say, well, I'll never be able to do that.
