00:00Let's bring in Noga Tarnopolsky, our correspondent in Jerusalem, for more on this.
00:03Noga, good evening to you.
00:04I understand a Druze mayor has evidence of atrocities against his people.
00:09What can you tell us about this?
00:14Yes, there was an extremely dramatic statement made just about an hour and a half ago
00:20from Dolan Abu Saleh, who is the mayor of Majd al-Shams,
00:24the largest Druze city on the Israeli side of the Golan.
00:27And he repeats out loud and in open what we've been hearing from Israeli Druze leadership all day long,
00:36which is that they're in possession of videos of simple atrocities,
00:41that barbarities are being committed against, still committed right now,
00:45against Druze communities in southwest Syria and not only there,
00:50and demanding, really in a bone-chilling way, I have to say,
00:55that the Israeli army escalate its involvement, is what he said.
01:00He said that babies are being murdered, entire families are being wiped out, girls are being raped.
01:07And his top aide, Adam Brick, shared with me that they have evidence of everything
01:14that this mayor discussed in his statement.
01:18There has not yet been any response from the Israeli government,
01:21but there is really an immense amount of tension within Israel
01:25about what appears to be kind of crimes that remind all Israelis of October 7th,
01:32as the mayor, by the way, explicitly reminded everyone,
01:36just across the border in Syria,
01:38and in some cases to close relatives of Israeli citizens.
01:43No good for the moment. Thank you very much indeed.
01:45We're coming back.
