00:08You said you knew a lot about your character going into this project,
00:11but what about her story made it a must to share with the world?
00:14They're such an interesting family. I mean, the fact that they were,
00:18I guess, one family is mainly the thing that blew my mind. I was like, how, how did they
00:24all end up so different when they were all raised under the same roof? And I suppose with Nancy,
00:29I just loved the fact that, you know, she's an amazing writer. Most people know her from The
00:33Pursuit of Love. I do just think she's truly one of the greats. That's why I think reminding the
00:38audience of who she is felt really important. What do you make of the timing of the series with
00:43what's going on in the world right now? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it's a really
00:47interesting conversation point, actually. They all come from one family and yet they were women who
00:52were living in a culture and in a society and in a time where they were rarely allowed to be
00:58educated. They were rarely allowed to have a proper profession. They were only valued if they
01:04were marriable and they couldn't be financially independent really. And they didn't want to just
01:09get married and have children. And they were screaming and they were not being listened to.
01:14And so they went to the places where they were listened to. And those places ended up being pretty
01:20extreme places. For me, it's sort of symbolic of, you know, the greater world right now that we live in.
01:26There are so many disillusioned people who are not feeling heard and not feeling represented.
01:33And so if we don't give them a voice, a place where they feel safe and listened to,
01:38education, like, I mean, all of the, going back to like bare human rights,
01:42they will go to places where they feel valued. So that's, I think, what the relevance is.
01:46I wondered if you'd like to come with?
01:48There too.
01:48Germany.
01:50On a lighter note, do you think Nancy Mutford and Prudence Featherington would get along?
01:55I've never thought about that. I think Prudence would be, like,
01:59dumbstruck by Nancy. Like, genuinely, like, like, listening to her speak, just be like.
02:04I think she would try to, like, throw in a witty comment and it would just be, like,
02:08beaten down. Because Nancy's so quick and so, sort of, that is quite funny. I would like to see
02:13them in a room together. I think they would just be like chalk and cheese.
02:19It is fatiguing preparing to be lady of this house.
02:22Which love interest on Bridgerton do you think Nancy would be the most interested in?
02:27Oh my god.
02:29Well, she has a tendency to fall for the idiots. You know what I mean? Like, the F boys. I don't
02:35know if I'm allowed to swear. But like, she has a tendency to go towards that. The beautiful thing
02:39about all of the boys in Bridgerton is that they all start out by being kind of, like,
02:43caddish and naughty. And then they actually find that. So probably Johnny's character. I don't know,
02:48like, probably him. And Nancy would kind of train him to be a husband because he didn't want to
02:55settle down, did he? I don't know. She could probably go through all of them. All of them.
02:57I'll take all of them.
03:00We are huge fans of your parents' work, too. Do you watch each other's work? Have they watched
03:05Outrageous yet?
03:06Well, yes and no. I mean, I watched the first couple of series of Downton and I think I sort
03:11of slipped off it. And then I obviously watched The Crown because that was quite a big deal.
03:16I had a secret viewing party with the two of them. I was sent the first two episodes and I
03:22did invite them around because I've got a stupidly big television and that was really cool. And they
03:27binged the whole thing very sweetly. They were very, very, very proud. They've never seen me
03:32in something that big, you know, I haven't played a role that big before. And they were just like,
03:36yeah, yeah, it's great. So that felt, that felt really nice.
03:40So if you bring a partner home to meet the parents, what's the pep talk in the car like before they
03:44come in? I could never disappoint Jim Carter.
03:47I wouldn't hear of it.
03:48I actually never thought about that. I mean, most of my friends are so over it in the nicest way as
03:55in they're just my parents to them, which is really nice. I mean, if you've got a cracking sense of
04:01humor, you're going to be fine. You know, they've got a cracking sense of humor. Humor is one of the
04:06most important things to me in any kind of relationship. And so, yeah, if you can crack a
04:13joke, you'll be absolutely fine. Okay. We're going to put 10 seconds on the clock. Tell everyone why
