Israeli strike on Gaza Catholic church kills two and injures several

00:00At least two people were killed and several others injured after an Israeli strike hit the
00:08Holy Family Church in Gaza, according to witnesses and church officials. The shelling also damaged
00:14the church compound where hundreds of Palestinians have been sheltering from the war. The Catholic
00:20charity Caritas Jerusalem said the parish's 60-year-old janitor and an 84-year-old woman
00:25receiving psychosocial support inside a Caritas tent were killed in the attack. Among the
00:32injured was parish priest Gabriel Romanelli, who was very close and often called with the
00:36late Pope Francis. Pope Leo XIV renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire in response
00:42to the attack. In a rare move, the Israeli foreign ministry posted an apology on social media
00:49and the Israeli military said it is investigating. Separately, another person was killed and 17
00:56injured in a strike against two schools sheltering displaced people in central Gaza. The strikes
01:02come as Israel and Hamas continue talks for a ceasefire, though little progress has been made.
