00:00My name is Madison Murray. I'm actually from South Australia. I moved here five

00:03years ago because of the beauty of the ocean. I'm definitely, I'm pretty stoked

00:08about the outcome of this. I'm an open water swimmer so I swim most mornings

00:12with a swim club just off the harbour and it's probably the most, it's the most

00:17amazing experience, like super close to nature. So when I heard that the wind farms

00:20were cancelled after all the work that everyone's put in, I was pretty, I felt

00:25very blessed because it protects not only the beauty of the coast but it

00:29protects the marine life which I think is something people forget about. They

00:32think of the environment and they forget the repercussions all these things have

00:36on marine life because they don't have a voice. So hearing about the outcome of

00:41this is amazing. It's amazing for the Illawarra, it's amazing for the coast but

00:45like the whales, the migration routes, just the marine life itself, it's

00:49going to keep abundance and I guess vitality and life in the coast. So yeah

00:54I'm really excited and I'm really proud of everyone for all the hard work they've

00:57done and it's going to keep the beauty alive which is amazing.

01:07heard in three years that that finally the last group that was interested in

01:12doing these offshore wind turbines are pulling out and just goes to prove Bowen's

01:17whole idea about this thing is wrong, it's flawed and yeah the whole community can

01:24celebrate now. Hi I'm Barbara Kelman and I'm a local resident. Today's news is

01:31really a celebration however my faith or my trust in the powers that be is teetering.

01:38Is this just a ploy and an exhibition of okay we don't have to worry anymore. No we

01:44have to be vigilant. We have to be very careful and the government needs to pay

01:48attention to what the people are saying not only in this local area but nationwide.
