00:00Hi, my name is Ashlyn Kylund. I am the digital program manager for the LGMA. I work on the
00:13local government digital and ICT strategy. And yeah, we're here today in the LGMA offices. We've
00:20just done our event. It went really well. Just around 60 people attend and lots of engagement
00:26on smart communities and the EU funding topics. I think my highlight from today was probably
00:33hearing from Eddie Partog on some of the EU initiatives, especially Living in EU. So
00:41really, really excited to hear from him and all of our speakers. So yeah, delighted.
00:48Good morning. I'm the head of the Open Data Unit in Ireland. I'm very pleased to be here
01:01as part of the Smart Communities event with digitalisation. I think Open Data is such an
01:10important resource to really drive sustainability and inclusivity in all of our communities.
01:17Hello, my name is Jack Havanagh. I'm the Open Data Lead at Smart Dublin. It was a great
01:21event today. It was really interesting to hear about the different EU funding proposals. It
01:26was great to hear from Helena at the Open Data Unit in Deeper. It was also really interesting
01:31to hear from the other local authorities on the kind of work they've done with EU projects
01:34and how they've secured funding. I think it's really important to bring different local
01:40authorities and the LGMA all together so that we don't repeat work and we take the best ideas
01:46from each other and we can kind of innovate and make some progress together.
01:51So at Smart Dublin, we kind of bring together academia and solutions and technology and we
01:57try to transform public services. My role is specifically around Open Data and I'm the
02:01Open Data Lead. So I aim to kind of harmonise Open Data across the four Dublin local authorities.
02:07I manage our Open Data portal Dublinked which you can view online. Recently we just launched
02:16our new Active Travel Dashboard which is available under the Insights tab on Dublinked and it includes
02:21really cool data on active travel in Dublin from our eco counters, from Strava, Google Environmental
02:28Insights Explorer and also the census data. So it's a really cool project and we hope that
02:32it can be replicated in other areas. Hello, I'm Martin Gauck, Data and Knowledge Portal Manager
02:37at the ESPN program. Today's event was very interesting and insightful. It's always good
02:42to talk about digital transformation among local governments in different national contexts.
02:47I think the key common element is that we are all facing the same challenges and we are
02:54all investing a lot of public resources to solve the similar problems. So it's very important
03:01to learn from each other and to work together to make it as smooth as possible for our citizens
03:09in terms of the transformation journey. The Lowly Mass Digital Transformation Tool has four
03:15components built in. You can assess yourself by filling in an evaluation form. Based on that
03:22data you can also compare yourself among your peers and in the dashboard you can also filter
03:28out relevant municipalities and regions with whom you want to compare yourself. You can also promote
03:36your best practices and learn from others and learn from policy recommendations.
03:42Hi there, my name is Claire Davis and I'm working as the Digital Officer in Cork City Council. We're
03:56delighted to be here today to speak with other local authorities around their digital transformation
04:02programs. In Ireland we all have similar struggles, we all have similar challenges but also we have
04:08similar opportunities and it's great to get together at events like these so that we can share what's worked
04:13for us and look forward and see what opportunities we can maybe deliver at home as well.
04:18So today I'm presenting on Cork City Council's Digital Maturity Assessment journey through the
04:23lower-to-mass process and then following up with the strategy and the infrastructure assessments.
04:29This was a really important exercise for us and doing these Digital Maturity Assessments are really useful
04:36to help us understand where we are, where we're relatively strong and where we could do better
04:40and this room for improvement. So today I'll be sharing some of the tips that we learned along the way
04:46of our journey. The important aspects for the local authorities who are looking at embarking on this
04:52Digital Transformation Assessment journey would be getting your team together. What's really important we found is
04:58as our local authorities are becoming more digital organisations, that your digital and innovation projects are spread.
05:17I'm extremely impressed with today's conference. I've been 10 or 12 years in the digital space and particularly around
05:23communities. And for us the biggest impact is when you can test but also scale. And to scale you need frameworks.
05:32And to have frameworks you need people coming together, sharing ideas, knowing what's already out there.
05:37And that's what this event had a really good achieving in lots of different ways from a technical perspective
05:43and from a delivery perspective. So very impressed. Well done. Looking forward to the next one.
05:47Hi, my name is Eddie Harto. I'm a retired official from the European Commission. I was part of the team that created Living in .eu,
05:56the movement that actually brings all 80,000 communities together all over Europe. And I was really pleased to see today
06:02the enthusiasm of the Irish cities and communities to work together and use the European experience to go forward in the digital transformation.
06:12I think Ireland has a lot to offer to the EU and vice versa.
06:25Hello, my name is Saab Khan. I am the Chief Information Officer at the Local Government Management Agency.
06:31At today's event, we saw very clearly how important communication and collaboration is.
06:37We're all on this journey for digitization. We're all on this journey for making our communities and workplaces smarter.
06:44The EU has made so many different avenues available for us to for investment, for support, for funding.
06:51Let's do it together. And that's really the message, the core message that I got out of today.
06:56And I would like to promote to others is let's do more of this together.
07:01There are strength in numbers. We're all dealing with our own sets of unique challenges we feel.
07:07But when we look broadly, we notice that our unique challenges are very similar to each other.
07:12So let's do it together. Let's communicate. Let's collaborate. Let's work together as a team and make this world a better place holistically.
07:20But Ireland as a technology hub is absolutely a vision that we are continuing to promote.
07:27Ireland already has a very significant foothold from a technology point of view.
07:31This kind of work that we're doing is going to continue to promote that more.
07:36Ireland.
07:40Ireland.
07:44If you look at this ...
07:46Ireland.
07:59Ireland.
