Oh, Maya, Gal, we talked about everything, everybody, we dished, we shared secrets, you
00:12
know, Greg Ricard is my love, and Rebecca was adorable, and they know a lot about what
00:19
we do over there, so it was just like having coffee with old friends, it was lovely.
00:28
You know, we don't really have a venue anymore where there are in-depth interviews, and I
00:34
mean in-depth interviews, for daytime people, so as an actor, I get to talk about things
00:44
that never come up in conversation, never come up in interviews, and that I wouldn't
00:49
feel comfortable especially doing with somebody that I didn't trust with the information.
00:54
I think part of the magic behind Soaps is that we reflect what's going on in everybody's
01:04
lives.
01:05
There's always a young love story, there's always a heartbreak somewhere, there's always
01:10
some new discovery, there are great friendships, there's great tragedy, and in every show there's
01:19
something that somebody can relate to that is part of their own lives.
01:25
A terrible loss.
01:27
Drake brought up short by that because it would happen so quickly.
01:34
And Wayne, Wayne, I hadn't seen Wayne for about a year, and we used to go up to the ranch,
01:38
both the kids and I, and two men so full of life, so full of adventure and excitement and joyous
01:50
families.
01:52
And to lose them both within months of each other?
01:57
Ridiculous.
01:57
Ridiculous.
01:58
My co-stars, Eric Martzoff and Martha Madison, held a walk for cancer, for pancreatic cancer,
02:09
and raised a bundle of money.
02:12
And that's one way that we give back, is by helping them find a cure for it.
02:17
You know, it's such a difficult medium, and we have so little time to produce a show.
02:28
And I call it working without a net.
02:30
I would go out there with Drake and just think, oh, you got me.
02:34
I got you.
02:35
You got me.
02:35
Okay, fine.
02:36
And there are moments where you look at your co-star and think, he doesn't have a clue.
02:43
And so you think, what's his line?
02:44
Okay, I'll lead into that again.
02:47
Yeah, I'll circle around again.
02:49
So we don't stop the take.
02:50
We keep trying to get it done.
02:53
And that's a partnership.
02:55
That's a safety net.
02:57
Obviously, we run lines, you know, ferociously before we get on the set.
03:02
And then at that point, we're given our mark, so we don't know even where we'll be standing
03:06
for a certain scene.
03:08
But it's that, I just call it the eye contact.
03:11
Like, Kim, is that it?
03:14
I'm done.
03:15
Yeah, that was my, okay.
03:16
Your turn.
03:17
And we all get it.
03:19
And we all work the same way.
03:20
And we all have that same level, regardless of how comfortable we are with the lines that
03:26
we've been given that day, as far as having learned them.
03:28
And it's still that, whew, you're on the skinny branches out here.
03:33
Let's see if we can do it.
03:35
And somehow, Wayne used to say, whatever happens when I leave here, NBC will be in my rearview
03:41
mirror.
03:42
And we got it.
03:43
It's there.
03:43
It's in the can.
03:44
We get to go home now.
03:45
When he left the show, I went out and I got a rearview mirror, took a picture of NBC and
03:52
mocked it up in the rearview mirror.
03:56
So it's an impossible job, and we do it every day.
03:59
And we only do it by locking arms and supporting each other.
04:02
I think Greg and Rebecca are interesting people.
04:13
And they're curious, and they keep asking, and they don't ask a typical question.
04:20
I haven't had a conversation like this, I don't think, probably ever.
04:25
Usually it's, what was possession like, or who are your friends on set, which is fine,
04:31
but they're good, and they're deep, and they're thought-filled, and it makes them very good
04:37
at this.
