Meta To Spend Billions On 'Titan' AI Centers, Signaling Intent To Lead In AI Infrastructure

Meta plans to spend hundreds of billions of dollars building massive AI data centers across the U.S., according to the BBC. In a post on Threads, Zuckerberg announced that Meta is building several massive AI data centers, including Hyperion in Louisiana, which is expected to reach five gigawatts by 2030, and Prometheus in Ohio. He said the company will invest hundreds of billions of dollars to develop superintelligence, with each center named to reflect its enormous scale. Zuckerberg emphasized the unprecedented size of the sites, with at least one matching the footprint of the entire city of Manhattan. Meta generated more than $160 billion in revenue in 2024, primarily from advertising, and has made AI a central focus of its long-term strategy. Analyst Karl Freund noted that Meta’s aggressive investment signals its intent to lead in AI infrastructure. Meta shares rose 1% after the announcement.
