U.S. President Donald Trump says Ukraine will get more Patriot missile systems, and that Russia will face secondary tariffs if it doesn't agree to a peace deal within 50 days.
00:00U.S. President Donald Trump is turning up the pressure on Russia to end its war in Ukraine.
00:05He's met with the chief of NATO and decided that Ukraine is going to get more Patriot missile systems,
00:10which are critical to its defense.
00:14But this isn't a gift from the United States.
00:17European allies will send Ukraine systems they already have on hand and buy replacements from Washington.
00:23Pardon me for being late. We had a great meeting with NATO, the Secretary-General,
00:27and we're going to do something a little different for this country.
00:31We're going to supply weapons to NATO at a large amount.
00:36They're going to deliver the weapons and they're going to pay for 100% of the weapons.
00:39Still, the deal reflects Trump's growing frustration with Russia's President Vladimir Putin as the war rages on.
00:45And there's more. He's giving Russia 50 days to agree to a peace deal.
00:50Otherwise, the U.S. will do something it's avoided so far,
00:53sanctioning those countries that still buy Russian exports with 100% tariffs.
00:58This could scare off nations that until now had kept buying products like Russian oil.
01:02That idea has rare bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress.
01:06Trump and NATO haven't always had the smoothest relationship.
01:10But today, he and NATO Secretary-General are on the same page.
01:14So if I was Vladimir Putin today and hear you speaking about what you were planning to do in 50 days,
01:20and this announcement, I would reconsider whether I should not take negotiations about Ukraine more seriously
01:27than I was doing at the moment, if I was Vladimir Putin.
01:29But when I'm Ukraine, I think this is really great news for them.
01:32News of the 50-day reprieve saw stocks and the ruble rise on the Moscow market.
01:37Still, analysts say it's Russia's move now, as that grace period starts to run out.
01:42So Putin is going to have to realize over the 50 days or sooner that he's not winning and can't win.
01:49And he can't wait us out. That's his only strategy.
01:53In both Russia and Ukraine, there is some uncertainty about whether Trump will come through
01:58and what his motives may be.
02:00Donald Trump is a man who is doing politics mixed with show business.
02:06And what he says should always be questioned because he is a very emotional person.
02:11In fact, we have already heard about this because this is not the first Trump statement regarding sanctions related to Russia.
02:20And it seems to me that these 50 days are some additional advantage for some political restructuring,
02:26in particular in favor of America because America obviously sees some benefits in cooperation with Russia.
02:33Still, after more than three years of fighting, the stakes might be rising, as the West appears to come together.
02:40Lee Sin Pan and John Van Trieste for Taiwan Plus.
02:47We will be talking to him with Russia as a former president of Russia.
02:51And he is the third Trump saying that currently, the United States will be rising, as the national leader of Russia that contemplate the national war.
02:54And he means that he was rising with his standing andāĨ.
02:55And that was his final role in the United States.
02:56He has a real-American leader of Russia who is rising with Russia.
02:57And that's it.
02:58And that's some of the Lehman's right.
02:59And that's it.
03:00And that's it.
03:01And that's it.
03:02So he has a real-American leader of Russia who is rising.
03:05So he has a real-American leader in Russia on Russia instead of Russia.
