iPhone 13 Screen Replacement: DIY Guide to Restore Your Display!
Transcrição
00:00To begin the repair, we'll take the pentalobe screwdriver and remove the two bottom screws from the device.
00:11We'll then take the single-sided razor blade and create a gap between the edge of the screen and the chassis of the device,
00:20and then carefully pry upwards to create a larger gap, which will now be big enough to insert our guitar pick into,
00:26where we can slide it through this right-hand edge, the bottom edge, and the left-hand edge.
00:38Once you've lifted it away from the sides and the edge, we're going to wiggle the phone a little bit from side to side,
00:45holding it from the bottom, and then open up the screen, just like opening a book.
00:51And we can see this one is actually very wet inside.
00:53So the first thing I'm going to do is start to dry it out with the hot air gun and a microfiber cleaning clock.
01:04We don't know if the liquid has done any further damage already,
01:07but I'll proceed with the repair and test it out once the screen's been replaced.
01:11We can now take the cross-head screwdriver and remove the three screws that hold the shield in place for the screen connector and the battery.
01:18Once they're unscrewed, take your tweezers and lift the shield out of the way.
01:24Then using the plastic spudger, it's important to isolate power from the device by disconnecting the battery.
01:29Now there's no power running through the device, it's safe to disconnect the front screen connector, which is this one here.
01:34Now we'll move up to the top of the device and remove the single cross-head screw from the middle of the shield,
01:40the tri-wing screw in the top right,
01:42and the other cross-head screw in the top left
01:48to lift up the shield,
01:52and the spudger to disconnect this flex cable here.
01:56That means that we can now remove the screen from the phone
01:58and begin working on cleaning up the chassis, ready for the new screen.
02:02We need to remove the old water-resistant seal from this one
02:05and to do that, take your tweezers
02:07and begin lifting up and peeling away
02:12the spent adhesive seal.
02:16On all models of iPhone after the iPhone 12,
02:19these did get a little bit more awkward,
02:21so just take your time with this and get as much of it away as you possibly can.
02:25Once all the seal's removed, we're going to take some isopropyl alcohol now,
02:34apply it to the edge of the chassis,
02:38and then using the cleaning brush,
02:40brush away any dirt, dust, and grime that's left behind.
02:45Repeat the same process to all edges of the phone,
02:49making sure to get in all the nooks and crannies of the chassis.
02:52Be careful when you're cleaning out this top edge
02:54because you don't want to nudge the Face ID infrared camera
02:58or front camera sensor.
03:03With that now cleaned,
03:05we can take our new adhesive seal
03:08and apply that to the chassis,
03:11starting in the top left corner,
03:13lining up the left-hand edge
03:15and then making sure that it sits nice and flush
03:18all the way around the device.
03:27Once it's laid flat,
03:29use the back end of the spudger
03:30just to push it down
03:32and make sure that it's sat
03:34really nice and neat
03:35all the way around.
03:36Then peel away this top layer of the film
03:44and that's now ready to receive the new screen.
03:49We'll put that down to one side
03:50then go back to this damaged screen
03:52and using the tri-wing screwdriver this time
03:54remove the three screws holding down this shield here.
03:58Use your tweezers to lift the shield
04:10and then using your heat gun or hairdryer
04:13we're going to warm up this flex cable here
04:16so that we can soften the adhesive
04:20making it easy to pull away
04:22that little cable.
04:29Once that's heated
04:30and the adhesive is softened
04:32we're going to get those tweezers again
04:33and starting from this area here
04:37start lifting up this flex cable
04:39enough so that we can get our thumb
04:41underneath it here
04:42to peel it away
04:44from the back of the display.
04:55Once that's peeled off
04:56we're going to go back to the sensor area
04:58just over here
04:59and lift the proximity sensor first
05:04then allowing the heat to do its thing
05:06we're going to lift up
05:07the proximity sensor
05:11and the ambient light sensor.
05:15Now taking the new screen
05:16we'll peel off these protective
05:18peel stuff
05:20off the back of the display
05:21then start by realigning the ambient light sensor here
05:28proximity sensor and microphone
05:30and then that should allow
05:32the rest of the flex cable
05:35to line up
05:36exactly where it needs to be.
05:38finally there's just that little shield
05:46and the three
05:47tri-wing screws to re-secure
05:51and once they're secured into place
06:10this screen is now ready to reinstall
06:13into our chassis
06:13the easiest way to do this
06:15is by offering up the screen connector first
06:19making sure that that sits into place
06:21then get the front sensor cable
06:23and secure that
06:25and then reattach the battery connector
06:28we can now realign this shield
06:33that goes over the top flex cables
06:35of the motherboard
06:35re-secure the cross head screw just here
06:39the tri-wing screw just here
06:53and the cross head screw
06:54in the top left
06:56moving back down
07:01we're going to reinstall the shield
07:02for the screen and battery
07:04which is held down by the three cross head screws
07:08we can now remove that final layer of the peel
07:21for the adhesive seal
07:22this usually comes off in two or three pieces
07:32and to get the final piece you have to fold down the screen
07:35and peel it away
07:41to re-secure the screen into place
07:43go ahead and install the top part of the screen first
07:46and work your way down
07:47re-securing it back into the chassis
07:51before finally reinstalling the two pentalobe screws
07:58at the bottom of the phone
07:59that just about completes the repair
08:09with this iPhone 13 front screen
08:11thank you for watching and see you next time
08:15that we have to do it
08:23and then at the bottom of the screen
08:26and see you next time
08:26we don't see you next time
08:27if you start doing a demo
08:28and then we see you next time
08:29and then we're going to see you next time
08:30and we see you next time
08:32and then we're going to see you next time
