00:00Throughout the last centuries, the health of city dwellers increasingly benefited from

00:05better access to education and health care, improved living conditions, and targeted public

00:10health interventions.

00:13But today, that benefit is less apparent, with hundreds of millions of urban dwellers

00:17lacking adequate sanitation or access to clean water, threatened by heat stress, air pollution,

00:25or suffering the effects of air and waterborne disease, all exacerbated by climate change.

00:32Recognizing these issues and devising public policy and service responses to address them

00:37will become increasingly important.
