00:21An astronaut is so much more than about a ticket to space. It's about a scientific endeavour,
00:28it's about economic opportunity and building our economic complexity as a nation,
00:34it's about educational opportunities for our young people in Australia.
00:44We've been able to get unique access into this opaque world of human space flight and the door
00:51has been cracked open for more Australian scientists and engineers and companies to be involved in all
00:58of the scientific and engineering and industrial endeavours to do with space.
01:06Internationally amongst my colleagues in Europe and when we visited Houston, there was so much
01:12interest in what's going on in Australia and optimism about what Australia could bring to the
01:18global space ecosystem in human space flight, in microgravity sciences and related activities.
01:24What do you want to do in Australia?
01:28Most of all, it's about helping to inspire the next generation, not just into STEM fields, although
01:35that's important, but also for them to have the courage to dream big for themselves and their
01:40communities and their country, whatever their dream may be.
01:43I also want kids to know that they should have the confidence to dream big for themselves,
01:51because the only limit to their ability to pursue a career path, pursue a life that interests them is
01:59their own confidence and their own imagination about what that should be.
