00:04Loss of consciousness can occur within 10 seconds and brain death in 5 minutes.

00:13Strangling someone could require less pressure to the neck than a handshake.

00:18It is common to leave no visible injury and consequences can be delayed by days or weeks.

00:25If the victim survives, it can still cause a stroke, heart attack, miscarriage or brain

00:31injury and the experience can have a devastating impact on their psychological wellbeing.

00:39Over 10% of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault report that they were strangled.

00:46However, the vast majority of victims make no report at all.

00:52Nobody should have the power over whether someone takes their next breath or not.
