00:00After a year away from the game, Chase Claypool is ready for a comeback,
00:04and he's more motivated than ever. The former Steelers standout and free agent wide receiver
00:09took to Instagram recently to share an update on his health and mindset after missing the entire
00:142024 NFL season due to a pretty nasty toe injury. Claypool had signed with the Buffalo Bills last
00:21offseason, but a torn ligament and tendon in his second toe ended his season before it even began.
00:27The Bills eventually released him with an injury settlement.
00:32But now, Claypool says he's back, stronger, faster, and hungrier.
00:37I tore a ligament and a tendon in my second toe and have been rehabbing,
00:41working out, and recovering every day for the past year, Claypool wrote.
00:46I am back to being the strongest and fastest I've ever been and couldn't be more excited
00:50to step back out on the field and let my actions speak for themselves.
00:54For Claypool, this isn't just about getting back on an NFL roster.
01:00It's about proving he still belongs among the league's top athletes and showing the potential
01:05that had fans and scouts buzzing back when he was drafted out of Notre Dame in the second round in
01:102020. I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align, and I will work my way into the position
01:17to show off what's been suppressed these last two years. He added.
01:21Despite the setback with Buffalo, Claypool had nothing but gratitude for the organization,
01:27giving a shout-out to quarterback Josh Allen, head coach Sean McDermott, and GM Brandon Bean
01:32for the opportunity. It's been an up-and-down ride for Claypool since his early breakout with
01:38the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his first two NFL seasons, he put up an impressive 1,700 receiving
01:45yards and 11 touchdowns, making plays all over the field with his size, speed, and athleticism.
01:52But things started to shift in 2022 when the Steelers traded him to the Chicago Bears.
01:58After a short and bumpy stint in Chicago, he was traded again to the Miami Dolphins in 2023.
02:05Between his time in Chicago and Miami, Claypool appeared in 19 games, but never really found his
02:12footing or earned a consistent spot in the rotation. He often found himself slipping down the depth
02:17chart, despite his obvious physical tools and early career success. Still, Claypool isn't ready
02:24to call it quits. He's been grinding in silence for the past year, and now he's putting the league on
02:30notice. His story isn't uncommon in the NFL. A promising young player runs into a stretch of bad luck,
02:37injuries, or tough fits with new teams. But what separates those who make a true comeback is
02:43mindset, work ethic, and a bit of timing. With training camps around the corner, teams will
02:49inevitably face injuries or seek depth at wide receiver. Don't be surprised if Claypool gets a
02:55call soon. He's still just 26 years old, with a rare blend of size, 6 feet 4 inches, speed, and strength.
03:03If he truly is the strongest and fastest he's ever been, like he says, there's no reason he can't
03:11get back on the field and make some noise again. Whether it's as a WR3, red zone threat, or even a
03:17special teams weapon, Claypool's comeback story is worth keeping an eye on this summer. He's been
03:23counted out before. But now, he's ready to write a new chapter.
03:33We'll be told.
