00:00Judges of the European Court of Human Rights have found Russia responsible of human rights abuses

00:07in what is the first international recognition since the start of the war.

00:12The case was brought forward by Ukraine before the top European Court's governing body moved

00:17to expel the Kremlin following the launch of its all-out war in Ukraine.

00:21The court also ruled that Russia was behind the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

00:26That, too, was the first time an international court has found Moscow responsible for the 2014 incident.

00:34The Boeing plane was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down by Russian missiles,

00:39killing all 298 passengers, of which 196 were Dutch.

00:44Judges at the top European Court are set to rule on a total of four cases brought forward

00:49by the Netherlands and Ukraine against Russia.
