00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has filed an application to forfeit over
00:06169 million ringgit in cash belonging to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaqob.
00:15MACC, represented by the Deputy Public Prosecutor as the applicant,
00:19filed the application at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday,
00:23naming Ismail Sabri's former political secretary, Datuk Mohamed Anwar Mohamed Yunus,
00:29and the former Prime Minister himself as first and second respondents.
00:34In the application, the Commission is seeking a court order to forfeit cash seized from the first
00:39respondent for the Malaysian government. The application was made under Section 41,
00:44subsection 1 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, after the Commission was
00:50satisfied that the money kept by Mohamed Anwar belonged to Ismail Sabri and was linked to an
00:56offense under Section 36, subsection 2 of the same act. The Commission also applied for other
01:02court orders deemed suitable by the court.
