00:00Hi, Jamie Flores here with another notice. Today we're going to do 12C. A 12C notice means you
00:06filed your tax return with the IRS and they need additional information in order to process the
00:11return. It usually comes about a year to maybe two years after you file the return. You do not
00:19need to file an amended return or another original return. All you need to do is respond to the
00:25notice with whatever questions that they have. So sometimes it might just be a schedule or your
00:30withholding and I'll go over that. How you respond is on page two. It tells you this is where you mail
00:36it to and it gives you a control number that is specifically for you. So make sure that you put
00:42this information in your cover letter. Little cheat sheet. Why do you get a 12C? Usually it's missing
00:48forms or schedules to support whatever you put on your tax return. Verification of income or
00:54withholding. Sometimes it's verification of credit amounts and documentation to reconcile if you
01:00took premium tax credit, fuel tax credit, any advanced credits or usually that's about it.
