00:00I mean, he still couldn't, as Verstappen goes ahead of Piastri.
00:04Now, he's almost got ahead earlier behind the safety car.
00:09Piastri's absolutely put the anchors on, on the hangar straight,
00:13and Verstappen's just gone ahead of him.
00:15Piastri's the de facto safety car,
00:18but you're not allowed to accelerate and brake, accelerate, brake.
00:22Do it once, can't you?
00:23Oh, he's round!
00:24Verstappen spins, and then the safety car comes to an end.
00:29We get going, and Max Verstappen spins around
00:32and has lost eight places as a result,
00:36and is now battling away with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon
00:39and his rights in the middle of the two Williams.
00:42Piastri's been noted for slamming the brakes on
00:45and that safety car infringement.
00:47Verstappen is now down in 10th.
00:48Piastri leads from his teammates to McLaren 1-2.
00:51Yeah, their race control can look exactly what Piastri did
00:54with throttle and brakes and steering
00:56and see if he unduly slowed down there.
01:00We'll get on to that again in a minute.
01:01Verstappen is in a world of pain now as a result of that spin.
01:05But if you remember Barcelona, as he goes wide again,
01:08and this is going to allow Alex Albon on the inside
01:11to get past the Red Bull and on to the Wellington straight,
01:15and Verstappen now down into 11th.
01:16I wonder if he was trying to do the same thing here.
01:18It's up to him to control the speed.
01:20They've got to let the safety car get away.
01:25Oh, mate.
01:27He's a solidly against those down.
01:29Yeah, I think Piastri might be in trouble for that
01:32because that was too much slowing down there.
01:35And then Max, obviously a little bit frustrated,
01:39hits the loud pedal too much,
01:42coming out of stow and rounding up.
01:43He's generally struggling for grip,
01:45but I think Piastri might be in a little bit of trouble.
01:47This is where the anchors came on.
01:50The safety car was coming in.
01:52Piastri thought, no, I'm going to let you go,
01:55but that was too much in the view of the stewards,
01:58and it looked pretty obvious as well.
02:00Zach Brown is watching on from the McLaren pit wall.
02:03We're just seeing a replay again.
02:05We can understand what Oscar was trying to do, Zach,
02:07but I think that's a fair cop, right?
02:10We're debating that here on pit wall.
02:13Hamilton's back up to fourth.
02:14He's now going to be hunting down Hulkenberg,
02:16who is on for a podium finish here,
02:18unless Lewis Hamilton can stop him in the next seven laps.
02:22Right, nothing is going to happen for ten seconds.
02:24Lando, Oscar will pit this lap.
02:26We will go past once.
02:28Because they can't double stack,
02:30because then Lando would lose all this time
02:32while nothing is happening,
02:33because Oscar Piastri's got to serve his penalty.
02:36So whilst it's not ideal for Lando Norris,
02:39he's going to be the net gainer,
02:41when Piastri comes back out,
02:43and he will come back out onto the track.
02:45Oscar, I can imagine the emotions are very high,
02:49and we always say that you're very level-headed,
02:51but I've never seen you quite so upset
02:54about the situation you find yourself in.
02:56Yeah, I'm not going to say much.
02:58I'll get myself in trouble.
02:59So, well done, Janiko.
03:01I think that's the highlight of the day.
03:03So, yeah, I'll live with it.
03:05But clearly you feel aggrieved about the penalty.
03:08Articulate your case to the stewards
03:10as to why you shouldn't have got that ten-second penalty.
03:14I really can't be bothered.
03:16There's no point.
03:17I can't change it.
03:19But it just gives us an insight into your frustrations.
03:22Yeah, I mean, I did what I did at the first restart,
03:28and apparently one needed a penalty and one didn't.
03:32So I'm still surprised.
03:35But anyway, the team did a great job.
03:37We really had a great car.
03:40Honestly, on my side of the garage,
03:41we did everything we needed to.
03:44And, yeah, it's a good haul of points for the team.
03:48So you've got an issue with the consistency
03:51of the application of the rules.
03:53Is that the problem?
03:55Because ultimately it did cost you the win today.
03:58So we can all understand your frustrations.
04:01Yeah.
04:03I mean, yeah, I don't really understand it.
04:06I need to look back and see.
04:07But I really didn't think I did anything different
04:10or anything wrong.
04:11I don't know.
