00:17proposal but requested clarification on several key points before submitting a definitive
00:22position. Venezuela and China ratified their alliance at the highest level Friday with
00:33the signing of three new agreements in the mining, energy and technology sectors during
00:38the inauguration day of the China-Venezuela Great Expo Fair.
00:47Brazilian President LuĂs Inácio Lula da Silva announced Friday his intention to run
00:51for president again in 2026.
00:54Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:10We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:29The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, responded positively to the U.S. ceasefire proposal
01:35but requested clarification on several key points before submitting a definitive position.
01:40Hamas declared that it would present its final decision to the mediators, including in the
01:45agreement a gradual exchange of 10 living and 18 deceased Israeli captives for hundreds of
01:52Palestinian prisoners. The proposal follows reports of an alleged agreement by Israel to
01:58carry out an almost complete withdrawal of its military troops in Gaza under a 60-day ceasefire.
02:04In this regard, Hamas reaffirmed its readiness to immediately resume negotiations on the
02:09mechanisms for the implementation of the proposed framework.
02:20The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East Enra denounced
02:26that famine is becoming more frequent in the Gaza Strip. The agency condemned the new food delivery
02:31system implemented by Israel in which Gazans in search of food have been killed by Zionist
02:37forces. The United Nations Agency warned that the distribution of aid has humiliated and dehumanized
02:44the starving families, emphasizing that no person should be forced to choose between risking
02:50their life and feeding their loved ones. In this sense, URA offered its services in the distribution
02:56of supplies and basic necessities, pointing out that it had demonstrated that it has the
03:02systems and experience to provide vital aid to the population of Gaza, thus insisting on
03:08demanding the lifting of the Israeli blockade.
03:10The United Nations Human Rights Office recorded at least 613 killings at eight points run by the
03:22Israeli and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and near humanitarian convoys. The spokesperson for
03:29the United Nations Office, Ravina Shamsadani, said the figure is as of June 27th, adding that since then,
03:37there have been further incidents. Sham Dasani demanded access to carry out investigations and to determine
03:44responsibilities, saying that it is clear that the Israeli military shelled and shot at Palestinians
03:50trying to reach the distribution points. Earlier this month, URA Commissioner General Philip Lazzarini
03:57said over 130 non-governmental organizations signed a joint call demanding the restoration of a unified
04:05United Nations-led humanitarian response in Gaza for aid coordination and delivery to be returned to
04:11international humanitarian law standards.
04:13So the latest figures that we have, we have recorded 613 killings, both at GHF points and near humanitarian convoys.
04:28Now, this is a figure as of the 27th of June. Since then, I was reading our latest SITREP, there have
04:35been further incidents on who is responsible. It is clear that the Israeli military has shelled and shot
04:43at Palestinians trying to reach the distribution points. How many killings? Who is responsible for?
04:48For that, we need an investigation. We need access. We need an independent inquiry. And we need accountability for these killings.
04:55I lost my brother. Oh, world. I lost my brother in the U.S. distribution center that they set up to feed people. But they are
05:05killing people, not feeding them. They are not feeding people. They are killing people. And we do not want them. And we do not want the U.S. center.
05:14They should stop the center as soon as possible, because every day there are 100 martyrs there.
05:23This. This is a failed project. And we do not want it at all. And it must be closed. Either they exterminate the entire people together
05:33or stop the war. What do they want from our civilians?
05:36The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accused the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Eranyahu, of turning the region into a bloodbath.
05:49During his speech at the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the city of Hankendi, Ozerbaiyan,
05:57the Turkish President said that they could not abandon the Palestinian cause, nor remain silent in the face of the attacks
06:04by the Israeli regime against the Gaza Strip, Syria, Lebanon and Iran. President Erdogan also condemned Israel's aggressive policies
06:12as they threatened peace and stability in the entire region. Moreover, he repudiated the Israeli offensive,
06:19while assuring that he will stand firm in defense of the oppressed.
06:23In the United Kingdom, demonstrators gathered outside the Royal Courts of Justice on Friday to protest the government's ban against activist group Palestine Action
06:39under terrorism legislation. Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans condemning the government's repression of pro-Palestinian activism
06:48and its continued support for Israel. The mobilization occurred ahead of the High Court hearing on the group,
06:55where the British organization tried to appeal the ban, which would designate them as terrorists,
07:01and criminalize both members and supporters with penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
07:07At the hearing, lawyers representing Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori said the decision represented an authoritarian abuse of power
07:16and should be halted. The ban, approved earlier this week by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords,
07:23is said to take effect at midnight.
07:33In other news, in Mexico, social and human rights organizations will rally against the anti-migration policies of the Trump administration
07:41to support their nationals. Several social movements and human rights organizations summoned for demonstrations on Friday
07:48to reject U.S. immigration policies as part of an ongoing wave of protests.
07:53Some groups will picket in front of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City as a sign of solidarity.
07:59Likewise, several events have been organized with emphasis on non-violence and respect for the right of free speech.
08:07Overall, Mexico has expressed strong diplomatic criticisms to U.S. raids,
08:12and it also demanded respect for due process.
08:37And now we go live with our special envoy, Belen de los Santos, who has all the latest information

11:32Don't go away, we'll be right back with more From the South.
11:48Welcome back to From the South. Venezuela and China ratified their alliance at the highest
11:53level Friday with the signing of three new agreements in the mining, energy and technology sectors
11:58during the inauguration day of the China-Venezuela Great Expo Fair. During the opening speech, President
12:04Maduro highlighted the importance of the strategic alliance between China and Venezuela and reiterated
12:10his country's will to engage in political, cultural and economic cooperation with the
12:15world as long as Venezuela's sovereignty and dignity are respected. The Bolivarian president
12:20also highlighted the role of Venezuela in the new multipolar order while emphasizing the
12:25strategic cooperation with China as part of a shared path towards development. The event
12:32is held in the context of the 51st anniversary of the diplomatic relations between both nations.
12:39Also in Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro accused Friday the U.S. government and its European
12:48allies of supremacist and reiterated that such ideology has no room in the 21st century.
12:54The statement was made during the inauguration of the International Book Fair which will be
12:59held in Caracas until July 13th. The event was especially attended by the Ambassador of Egypt,
13:06the U.S. president of the U.S. president of the United States. During his speech, Maduro insisted
13:12that for over 600 years the great empires have tried to submit peoples to models of hegemonic
13:19domination, slavery and exploitation. The Bolivarian leader also called the peoples of the world to
13:25question the hegemonic narratives of the West and to build one of their own based on their history and
13:31to stand critically against the Eurocentric visions.
13:39And Eurocentrism when it had London as its axis, or when it had other centers, and today it has
13:51Washington as its epicenter, the United States tried to raise the supremacism of its race,
14:00or its model or its culture, for the rest of humanity to submit, often in the name of a religion,
14:09to models of domination, hegemony, slavery, and exploitation.
14:14On Friday, 213 Venezuelan migrants arrived in the country from the United States as part of the Back
14:24to the Homeland Plan, an initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro. The repatriated migrants
14:30arrived at the Simon Bolivar International Airport. State Security Agency's officials received them there,
14:36and authorities informed that the latter's group was made up of 163 men, 40 women, and 10 minors,
14:44who would soon be reunited with their relatives. This action is part of the humanitarian policies
14:50implemented by the Venezuelan government to protect the rights of its citizens inside and outside the country.
15:01The Venezuelan and Colombian governments reaffirmed their willingness to strengthen cooperation
15:06for their mineral benefit. Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez held a meeting with Colombian
15:12Mines and Energy Minister Edwin Palma with the purpose of strengthening collaboration in hydrocarbons.
15:18During the meeting, Delcy Rodriguez was accompanied by Petróleos de Venezuela's President Héctor Obregón,
15:24Colombia's Ambassador to Caracas Milton Rejifo, and his Venezuelan counterpart in Bogotá, Carlos Martinez.
15:36In other information, Brazilian President LuĂs Inácio Lula da Silva announced Friday his intention to run
15:44for president again in 2026. The announcement was made during a meeting with the leadership of the
15:49Workers' Party, where the Brazilian leader reportedly said that the only person who can beat him was
15:55himself. According to the Metropolis newspaper, Lula has already started a dialogue with the leaders of the
16:02Brazilian Democratic Movement Party to gain their support and increase chances of re-election.
16:09The paper also considered that da Silva's main competitor is the current governor of the state of
16:15Sao Paulo, TarcĂsio GĂłmez de Freitas, who served as infrastructure minister under President Jair Bolsonaro.
16:23If elected, it would be Lula's fourth non-consecutive term in office.
16:33In Colombia, at least eight people were injured after the explosion of a motorcycle bomb in the
16:38Department of Guaviare. The attack occurred in the Calamar municipality and left two civilians,
16:44a non-commissioned officer and five soldiers wounded. Calamar is one of the four municipalities in the
16:51Department of Guaviare, where the presence of illegal armed groups is at its peak. Likewise,
16:57the governor of Guaviare, Jason Rojas, rejected the terrorist acts that threatened the peace and
17:03security of the inhabitants of the Department of Guaviare. And we have a second show break coming up. Don't go away, we'll be right back.
17:33Welcome back to From the South. In Tanzania, Prime Minister Qasim Mahaliwa announced he will not seek re-election in October's parliamentary polls.
17:43Mahaliwa had earlier said he would defend his seat for a fourth term, but made the surprise announcement on Wednesday.
17:51Appointed Prime Minister in 2015, Mahaliwa was seen as a potential successor to the late president,
17:57John Magufuli. He remained in office under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is seeking re-election under the ruling
18:05Shama Shah Mandipus Mandipus Party. Political analysts suggest Mahaliwa's departure could be
18:12part of an effort to balance regional and religious representation in government.
18:16In France, outside it is called on airlines to cancel hundreds of flights amidst the second day of
18:30air traffic controllers' strike. The Civil Aviation General Directorate asked local airline companies
18:36to reduce by 40% their flight schedules to the country's two main airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly in Paris.
18:44On the first day of strike, almost a thousand routes were cancelled, so it is estimated that the number
18:50of passengers affected could be approximately 300,000. Unions demand better working conditions and increased staffing.
19:08And like this, we have come to the end of this brief, but before we say goodbye, we invite you to watch
19:13a special interview with the president of the Patrice Lumumba Foundation, Ronald Lumumba. Don't mess it
19:20at 8.30 p.m. in Quito and 9.30 p.m. in Caracas, New York and Havana. Today, only on Telesur.
19:27For Telesur English, I'm Alejandra Garcia. Thank you very much for watching.
