This is what might just be the rarest jellyfish in the world, a species only ever seen just once before. It was spotted just back in May and because it has only been observed twice, it still hasn’t even been named.

00:39australian coast marine life experts say this jellyfish is quite unique as its tentacles are
00:44more rigid and arm-like with research scientists with the japan agency for marine earth science
00:48and technology dr dougal lindsay saying about it quote this is extremely rare for a jellyfish as
00:54they are normally radially splittable into pizza slices with even rather than odd numbers dr lindsay
00:59adds that they believe it might eat bioluminescent prey as their body coloration would mask any light
01:04being emitted by the prey as it struggles under the bell or is digested within the stomach
