00:07The country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the measures were necessary

00:11to reduce the uncontrolled flow of migrants across the border.

00:15His government has been under pressure from nationalist opposition parties

00:19over irregular migrants being returned to Poland from Germany.

00:23The decision comes after new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz

00:27made tougher migration policy a pillar of his election campaign in February.

00:32With the Polish government we are talking about joint controls

00:37in the same border border, both on the German side as on the Polish side.

00:42I can only say that there is both between the government-chefs,

00:46also between Donald Tusk and me, as well as between the Prime Minister

00:50a very enge, very collegial, friendly cooperation,

00:54because we want to solve a joint problem together.

00:58Tusk said he had spoken to Merz on several occasions

01:01and told him that Poland's patience on the issue was quote-unquote
