Why Are Coral Reef Fish So Colorful?

Education specialist Luke Richmond explains this and more from the Aquarium of the Pacific.

01:35Usually they can see maybe a different range of colors than we can.

01:38Some fish can see more colors than we can.

01:40But in order to be able to see all the different signals they're sending to each other

01:43with all the flashy, exciting colors they have, they do have to be able to see in color.

01:48Well, there you have it.

01:49Turns out these jewels of the sea aren't just beautiful to look at.

01:52They're very well adapted to living that colorful, radiant coral reef lifestyle.
