00:00Breaking tonight, the suspect in the Idaho student murders case, Brian Koberger, has
00:07reached a plea deal and will plead guilty. National correspondent Jeff Paul has the latest. Jeff,
00:13what do we know so far? Well, yeah, Brett, jury selection was supposed to start in August,
00:17but now that obviously goes away with this development. According to FoxNews.com,
00:21Brian Koberger has accepted a plea to spare his life in exchange for a guilty plea for all four
00:27murders involving the University of Idaho students who were killed. We know the families of all four
00:32victims who were killed are aware and are being kept in the loop regarding this plea deal.
00:37But according to the Kaylee Gonclaves family Facebook page, they say it's true. They are
00:44beyond furious at the state of Idaho saying they failed us. Now, Koberger was accused of fatally
00:50stabbing four University of Idaho students back in November of 2022. They were Madison Mogan,
00:56Kaylee Gonclaves, Zana Kurnodal, and Ethan Chapin. You see them there right on your screen.
01:02The killing stunned the small community of Moscow, Idaho, where the murder there hadn't taken place
01:06since 2015. Investigators said at the time, the killer had entered a house where the group of
01:12students lived. Two surviving roommates had returned home later at that house to find the scene.
01:18Koberger came into the picture after investigators received hundreds of tips, one of them being
01:22a particular car that had been seen at that house through security camera footage. Eventually,
01:28their investigation led them to Brian Koberger, a 28-year-old criminology student at Washington
01:33State University. Police were able to track his phone heading to Moscow before the attack.
01:39Now, obviously, with this plea deal, it does really two things. It guarantees a guilty verdict and
01:45that Koberger will spend the rest of his life in prison. But it also relieves the family and the
01:50community of what was expected, Brett, to be a very, very lengthy trial. Brett?
01:56Okay. Jeff, thank you.
