At a State Department press briefing on Monday, Spokesperson Tammy Bruce was asked about the revocation of Bob Vylan's visa.

00:04On Glastonbury, just getting to the decision to revoke the visas,

00:08members of this administration, particularly the vice president,

00:11have been very vocal about free expression,

00:13saying that even if things are hateful,

00:15particularly if the vice president took to task Germany

00:17and to a certain extent the UK,

00:19saying that there are laws that prohibit hateful content

00:21and insults that those are inappropriate.

00:23What's the difference here?

00:24I mean, I'm not justifying, I'm not supporting the...

00:28Of course.

00:28But why is it that this speech is out of line

00:31while you have, at the same time,

00:33a push to not outlaw free expression elsewhere

00:36when it comes to insults?

00:37Right.

00:37I think that, again, this is not about the nature of a concert,

00:42I suppose, but it really is about our standards,

00:44about who we let in the country,

00:46that we're not telling people what they can sing about

00:48or what they can say.

00:49It's not involved here at all.

00:51They obviously felt free to say what they were saying

00:53and chanting at Glastonbury, and they can do that.

00:56And we can do what we do.

00:57So it really is about the issue of national security,

01:02about issues of violence,

01:03the increase, certainly, of anti-Semitism,

01:05but of terrorism in general.

01:08That dynamic, the crime in the United States,

01:11what happened with the open border,

01:13the transnational gangs that are here,

01:16this kind of wanton dynamic that has ruined American lives,

01:21that has created cities that are unlivable,

01:24and every American deserves better.

01:27They deserve to know they have leadership,

01:29as we do now.

01:30And that's why they voted for Donald Trump,

01:32was simple, basic law and order,

01:35respect for your neighbor,

01:37and if you're coming to this country,

01:39respect for the people who are here.

01:40So I think that when we think about who we,

01:45why you have a visa system,

01:46which is in part to vet and to stop and to ask questions,

01:50is to take that seriously.
