00:00Being undocumented isn't something we can put in the back of our heads.
00:14When I wake up, it's the first thing I think about.
00:20Sometimes in my dreams, I'm undocumented too.
00:26My mom raised me in an environment where speaking out about your status is wrong.
00:35She taught me the same fear.
00:40No le digas a nadie, she would say.
00:43Don't tell anyone.
00:52But I started seeing things differently.
00:59Undocumented is just a label, but it doesn't define me.
01:03I dream of a world where I'm free to travel, to drive.
01:06A world where I'm an equal.
01:10I understood that you could do something to change your reality or the way that you were undocumented.
01:20Already as an undocumented student, you already feel like you're not in control.
01:24We can't vote.
01:25And then we already fear that we're going to be deported.
01:28We have no control over the legislation and all these things.
01:31So then it also feels like, oh, okay, I don't have control over my future or my education either.
01:36But that's not true.
01:37It took me stepping out and saying, this is happening and I don't know what to do.
01:41Is there any help out there?
01:43I don't think so.
01:44I don't think so.
01:46I didn't think so.
01:47I didn't think so.
01:48I was afraid of what could happen with such activity and how it wanted to put your case into public.
02:00She woke up early to protest, to meet in trouble.
02:05It's like I lost to communicate with her. It's like a silent wall between us.
02:14This is more than a legalization struggle, but a psychological war that measures character and patience.
02:21They want to see who will break down first.
02:27Being able to talk to each other about our immigration stories
02:31open the doors to talk about other things.
02:35Because we weren't always talking about immigrants who are also gay, or homeless, or abused.
02:44It makes me mad that being abused makes you illegible. Being raped makes you illegible.
02:49But not just living here and having a family and giving back. That doesn't matter, you know.
03:01We live under fear and we're trying our best to be invisible.
03:09It's hard for many of us to come forward.
