The 73rd NBC (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical) Protection Unit of the Eastern Theater Command Ground Forces of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China conducted a tactical exercise in June simulating an emergency leak of hazardous chemical substances.

The primary objective of the operation was to test personnel capabilities and enhance operational readiness for chemical, biological, or radiological contamination scenarios.

One of the highlights of the drill was, once again, the deployment of robot dogs. These autonomous devices were used to patrol potentially contaminated areas, transmitting real-time footage and providing crucial visual data for decision-making.

According to the PLA, the use of these robots significantly reduces the time required for reconnaissance in contaminated zones while minimizing human exposure to dangerous substances. Their participation reflects the increasing integration of advanced technology with NBC protection units.

The exercise concluded with decontamination procedures for personnel, degassing, and the cleaning of military equipment, simulating a full-scale response to chemical agent incidents.
