00:00The dark web itself isn't a marketplace.

00:02You can't visit those websites in a regular browser.

00:05You have to do that while you're connected to the Onion router.

00:08Even like Murder for Hire, there's counterfeit money, there's fake IDs.

00:13You know, there are all kinds of different websites that do horrible things.

00:18Let's talk about the dark web.

00:20So I hear a lot about the dark web.

00:22It's a buzzword.

00:23You can buy drugs on it.

00:24You can find child on it.

00:28You can, it sounds like it's just the black market, the new black market, correct?

00:33Yeah.

00:34So what, I've heard about it.

00:37I know about it.

00:38I know it's all stuff you shouldn't be doing.

00:41What, how do you get on it?

00:43What, where is it?

00:44Okay, so the dark web itself isn't a marketplace, like what you're thinking.

00:50So the black market or whatever you want to call it, once you're connected to the dark

00:56web tour, the Onion router, what I was explaining before, you still need to know where to go

01:01to visit these horrible websites.

01:03And they're like, you know, imagine a very long string of letters and numbers and the

01:08website, instead of .com, it'd be .onion.

01:11You can't visit those websites in a regular browser.

01:13You have to do that while you're connected to the Onion router, which you could download

01:18at the tour, T-O-R's website.

01:20And then you could go to a thing called like the hidden wiki, and the hidden wiki will show

01:25you all different categories of these websites with a link to them.

01:30And, and there's marketplaces, there's horrible things on there, like you said, for kids.

01:36And, and even like murder for hire, there's, there's counterfeit money, there's fake IDs,

01:41you know, there are all, all kinds of different websites that do horrible things.

01:45What is the Onion router?

01:46So the Onion router is a, is a tool, an open source project that was created to anonymize

01:55your traffic on the internet.

01:57And it decentralizes, I think, I believe decentralized would be the word for it, your internet traffic.

02:03It keeps you anonymous beyond a VPN.

02:06I would still recommend that you use a virtual private network on top of tour if you want to

02:11be anonymous.

02:11But, uh, it's just a layer of security that's free and it keeps it, it's like, for example,

02:18let's say you use, uh, Comcast for your internet service provider.

02:22Um, they could see that you're using tour, uh, but they can't see what you're looking at.

02:28Um, if you use a VPN and then you use tour, they can, they, they can only tell you're using

02:34a VPN, but they can't tell you're using tour.

02:35So it's, you know, it's a, it's a, just an internet within an internet.

02:40So can I get on, can I check my email through the dark web?

02:44Yes.

02:44We can go to any website.

02:45Would you recommend using the dark web to just do regular?

02:50It's slow as hell.

02:50Internet stuff?

02:51It's very slow.

02:52Yeah.

02:53Yeah.

02:53I mean, you could, but, and it would, it would keep you safer, but it's, it's not gonna,

02:58it's not a foolproof way to keep yourself safe and it's painstakingly slow.

03:02Okay.

03:04Do you use the dark web?

03:06Oh, for investigations.

03:07Yeah.

03:09What kind of investigations?

03:11Um, for like the predator, predator and pedophile cases.

03:15Yeah.

03:15So are you able to track these guys down from the dark web, even though they're technically

03:20anonymous?

03:21Um, a lot of times it doesn't need to go that far.

03:24Uh, a lot of times these guys will use their regular emails or they'll use an IP address that's

03:29been, uh, you know, they'll reuse for multiple emails, uh, or their face that they're using as

03:35their profile picture.

03:36I can, you know, find them from the same way I just found your face or they're using a phone

03:41number that traces right back to them.

03:44Uh, the dark web, you know, it's, it's not really a huge part of, uh, catching predators

03:49and pedophiles.

03:50Um, uh, one, one thing, I guess the only thing on the dark web, quote unquote, I hate that

03:56word, but the dark web, quote unquote, that I had access to was when I originally hacked

04:02the website that we're going to talk about, they branched out to have not only a website

04:07on the clear net on the regular internet, but their website was mirrored on the dark

04:12web and I had three back doors in their system and, uh, and it branched out over to the dark

04:20web.

04:20So I had a back door on the dark web too, which was kind of a cool thing to have because

04:24I needed to be connected to Tor, the onion router to connect to my back door.

04:30But that was, uh, I was only using that back door to exfiltrate data every single day, which

04:36was just user information.

04:37Uh, cause I didn't want to get their posts or anything.

04:39I didn't want to be in possession of anything horrible that they were sending each other,

04:43but their user info was enough for us as I'm sure you'll learn shortly.
