Tribute to Himanshu Roy: ‘Himanshu Roy Legacy Awards’ launched in honour of Mumbai Supercop

Mumbai, June 25, 2025 (ANI): The Himanshu Roy Foundation announced the institution of the ‘Himanshu Roy Legacy Award’ in memory of the late IPS officer. Himanshu Roy also known as “Mumbai Supercop” was a well-known figure in the law enforcement world. He handled sensational cases like Indian Premier League betting scandal and the infamous 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The inaugural event was graced by Dattatreya Hosabale, General Secretary of the RSS, as Chief Guest, with Padma Shri Shankar Mahadevan and Dr. Anirudh Kohli as Guests of Honour. The evening featured a soulful instrumental recital by Grammy-winning flautist Rakesh Chaurasia and acclaimed tabla maestro Yogesh Samsi. The event also marked the announcement of the inaugural award recipient. The awards will be presented annually to individuals making extraordinary contributions in three fields, National Security, Music and Medicine.

03:12And also he, being a police officer, pursued against the economic offences.

03:19A friend of mine, who is a prominent political leader of Maharashtra, said this of Himan Churay.

03:29He was a good, dynamic and upright officer, a gym-crazy, well-built guy.

03:36Due to cancer, he could not work to his satisfaction and the end came very unfortunately too early.

03:54Roy was honest in his official pursuits and very kind in his personal life and hence he was involved in many humanitarian services.

04:07This decision of the family to institute Legacy Awards in the memory of Himan Churay, I understand,

04:15is a result of deep commitment for them towards an honorable man who served our nation with duty and honor.

04:23It is a commendable way of both recognizing and honoring the achievers in society in three specific fields

04:32and also perpetuating the memory of the man who stood for principles.
