Speaker Johnson Asked If Should The U.S. Should Respond To Iran's Attacks On Bases In Qatar And Iraq

Speaking to reporters, Speaker Johnson was asked if the U.S. should respond to Iranian attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq and Qatar.

00:00This is a very serious big deal of results at U.S. Bates in Qatar and Iraq. Should the U.S. respond to those attacks?

00:12We're monitoring that very closely. I got a classified briefing on all this early this morning.

00:16This is the retaliation that was expected. So far, so good. No casualties, so far as we know.

00:23And I know that the national security team is in the Situation Room even as we speak, and they're monitoring this.

00:29Do you think it's symbolic? I'm not going to comment on it because I don't want to affect any of these events.

00:35But do you think the president should respond? Should the president respond to it?

00:38It's up to the commander-in-chief. I mean, he sent a very clear message that they should not.

00:42He wanted Iran to come back to the negotiating table in good faith.

00:46The problem is they weren't there in the first place.
