Final touches underway as Odisha’s Puri gears up for Grand Rath Yatra festival from June 27

Puri (Odisha), June 23, 2025 (ANI): Preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra in Puri are in their final stage, as the holy city gets ready to celebrate the divine journey of the Lord of the Universe Lord Jagannath, along with Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The grand festival begins on June 27th and will continue for nine days, drawing lakhs and lakhs of devotees from across the globe.The three majestic chariots  Nandighosa, Taladhwaja, and Darpadalana  are nearing completion. Artisans are giving the final touches, with the colouring of wheels, and painting of side panels featuring various goddesses and gods underway. The air in Puri is filled with divine energy and artistic devotion.

00:30The great traditions of Sanatana Vaidik Dharma, which we see all over our sacred Bharat Varsha,

00:50is rooted in, founded upon the sacred scriptures of Sanatana Vaidik Dharma,

00:57especially the scriptures which have been composed by Maharishi Vedavyasana.

01:02In the tradition of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannatha, the descriptions, narrations are given,

01:11especially in Skandha Purana, elaborately.

01:15And whether we see Skandha Purana or Brahma Purana or some other sacred scripture,

01:20one thing becomes clear, that Lord Jagannath, who is present now in the form of Chaturda Daru Vigraha,

01:28in the four-fold wooden form, is none other than the Paramatma, Parameshwara, Param Brahma, the Supreme God.

01:38He is not an Avatara, he is the Avatari.

01:40This is very clear.

01:43So, because he is Jagatanatha, he is Jagatanatha, meaning he is the Lord of the Universe,

01:52all beings, not only on this planet Earth, but all beings in the entire universe,

01:59have an equal right entitlement to have his darshan.

02:03That is not possible if Lord Jagannath stays within the confines of his temple.

02:11So, making a departure in the established principles of Sanatana Vaidik Dharma,

02:17that Mula Vigrahas do not leave the sanctum Sanctorum and the throne on which they have been consecrated.

02:23Here, Lord Jagannath himself, at the time of his installation in the Adi Temple by Lord Brahma,

02:29himself declared that he himself, along with Lord Balahodra, Devi Subhadra, and Chakra Raj Sudarshan,

02:36will go out of his temple on two occasions.

02:39One, on the day of his holy manifestation, which is Jashtapurnima,

02:45the manifestation of the Supreme Lord as the Daru Vigraha, which is Jashtapurnima.

02:52He said, Sananayatra is to be held, I will go out of my temple to give darshan to everyone on my day of my manifestation,

03:00that is the day of my birth.

03:02And then thereafter, I will celebrate nine days festival called Rathiyadra,

03:08wherein I, along with Balahodra and Subhadra and Chakra Sudarshan,

03:13will visit my birthplace, Gundicha Mandapam, for seven days.

03:18This is the Lord's wish, because he says that I love my birthplace very much,

03:23and I have stayed there for a very, very long time, before I came to this temple of mine.

03:28But the real hidden intention of the Lord is to give darshan to all beings in the entire universe.

03:39So, that is why Lord Jagannath comes out.

03:42And so, what do we find, that particularly on the Sri Gundicha Jhatra,

03:47where the Lord travels from his main temple, Sri Mandira, to Gundicha Temple,

03:53which is celebrated as the most major event of the nine days festival,

03:58we find people from all over the world,

04:01transcending all distinctions of caste, colour, nationality and religion,

04:07thronging the grand road to participate in his festival,

04:10because he is the Lord of the universe.

04:14He is the one Lord who is worshipped in all religions

04:17and all religious denominations in various names and forms.

04:26But the Lord is one.

04:28And that one Lord has appeared in this form.

04:31So, he is the one Lord who belongs to everyone in humanity.

04:35So, this Rathya Jhatra is the festival for the entire humanity

04:40to manifest the spirit of oneness of God

04:47and the essential spirit of universal brotherhood,

04:52harmony, love and unity among entire mankind.
