So guess what? Filmora has teamed up with Dolby to bring Dolby Vision to Filmora.
00:05
So what does that mean?
00:06
Hey, it's me again, Andres, and today we're going to be exploring why Dolby Vision is so special and how to use it in Filmora.
00:13
But wait, first, it's history lesson time with Sanchit.
00:20
Dolby Laboratories has been at the forefront of innovation for decades.
00:24
From pioneering surround sound to transforming digital cinema, their quest for perfection led to Dolby Vision,
00:31
a cutting-edge, high-dynamic-range format that enhances color, contrast, and brightness.
00:37
Unlike conventional HDR formats, Dolby Vision adapts to every screen with dynamic metadata,
00:43
adapting brightness and color settings frame by frame,
00:47
adapting HDR footage for regular displays and regular footage for HDR displays.
00:51
In other words, dynamic metadata makes every frame of your video look good,
00:58
no matter how you're watching.
01:00
It could be TV, phone, it doesn't matter.
01:03
Now, how all this affects my production process?
01:07
Well, in every way, it changes.
01:12
Let's talk about brightness, for example.
01:15
I filmed this shot on my phone.
01:17
When I tried to expose the outside, the inside became underexposed.
01:20
And when I tried to expose the inside, outside became overexposed.
01:24
So, I changed the setting on my phone to enable Dolby Vision HDR.
01:28
Then, bam, everything looked great.
01:30
I don't have to choose between deep blacks or bright highlights.
01:33
I can just have it all.
01:35
And then, I start editing.
01:38
Oh, no!
01:39
The inside of the house was still too dark for my liking.
01:42
So, I just brightened the image without revealing any underexposed pixels or missing details because there are none.
01:48
Now, let's go back to Sanjid to learn about color.
01:52
Regular SDR cameras capture a measly 16.2 million different colors,
01:56
whereas Dolby Vision cameras can capture about 68 billion colors,
02:01
allowing you to create sharper and more colorful images than ever before.
02:05
Thank you, Sanjid.
02:07
But what does having more colors actually look like?
02:11
Well, let me show you.
02:12
With so many colors, I was able to completely change the look and feel of my video,
02:17
even after I had shot it.
02:19
But do you really need all these extra colors and shades?
02:22
Yes.
02:23
You need them.
02:23
Most TVs nowadays have high dynamic range,
02:26
and Dolby Vision is commonly used in streaming platforms like Netflix and Prime.
02:30
So, if you are not shooting HDR, people will actually notice that your video is lower quality.
02:36
But what about social media?
02:38
Would people notice on social media?
02:40
Well, you tell me.
02:52
Jump scare!
02:53
So, how do you use this groundbreaking tool to make your video sharper and more lifelike with Filmora?
03:00
Let me show you.
03:01
First, I import my Dolby Vision footage.
03:04
Then, I adjusted the color space by going to File, Project Settings,
03:09
and selected HDR Rec 2100 HLG.
03:13
Once I finished editing, I went to Export and set the format to a Dolby Vision format.
03:19
These formats are only available on Mac for now.
03:21
I export it in the proper color space by pressing the setting option beside Preset.
03:26
Navigate to Export Color Space and select HDR 2100 HLG.
03:31
If you can't adjust your color space,
03:33
make sure GPU acceleration is enabled on your device by going Preference,
03:38
then Performance.
03:39
Enable it, and then Restart Filmora.
03:42
And there you have it.
03:43
Now you can unleash the power of Dolby Vision HDR with Filmora.
03:46
Deeper blacks, brighter highlights,
03:48
and an expanded color palette with just a few clicks.
03:51
Still have some questions?
03:53
Do you want to know more technical information about Bitrate?
03:56
Or maybe the difference between a codec and a wrapper?
03:59
Let me know in the comments below.
04:00
And as always, don't forget to like and subscribe for more videos on the channel.
04:03
Keep creating, and I'll see you next time.
