00:12lions leapt between towering poles, their daring feats drawing gasps and cheers at Sunday's

00:18third acrobatic lion dance championship.

00:30Jointly organized by the Malaysia Selangor and Federal Territories Dragon and Lion Dance

00:39Federation and the CHSAA Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, the event reflects Central Ice City's

00:46ongoing commitment to celebrating Malaysia's vibrant cultural heritage.

00:52So I think our main purpose is to basically promote and also to preserve the Malaysian

00:57heritage because acrobatic itself, acrobatic lion dance itself is basically a Malaysian

01:01creation and we want Malaysians to be proud of.

01:05We are creating this event in a common area that everyone is welcome to watch and most

01:09importantly it's free.

01:10So I believe this will help a lot of people who are not familiar with acrobatic lion dance

01:14to basically understand further what is this event about.

01:17The high energy competition drew a lively audience as 15 top tier lion dance troops from six states

01:23battled it out for the championship title.

01:25Each troop had 10 to 15 minutes to perform their routines, judged by a panel of 20 experts

01:31using internationally recognized scoring criteria.

01:34Emerging victorious was Persatuan Tarian Naga and Singa Kwan Lok from Sungai Wei, who clinched

01:58the grand prize of 8,888 ringgit.

02:01Xuen Long Rauwang Selangor and Wenqing Kelapa Sawit followed closely, securing 5,000 ringgit and

02:083,000 ringgit for second and third place respectively.

02:11We are very happy we get the champion today and I want to thank all of my members and the member

02:20families all always support us.

02:23This is the second time we act here and the past two years we are the first runner-up.

02:28So this year we champion.

02:30We all feel happy to win this competition.

02:33Last year we got to participate but I'm not sure we won or not.

02:36But this year we took the first runner-up and we feel so happy.

02:43We work hard and then we practice every day and then we own this competition.

02:50So this year we are the first runner-up and

03:07it's one of the most painful dances to me.
