04:09An EDSO spokesperson said they received multiple reports of a capsized boat in South Lake Tahoe
04:15near DL Bliss State Park Saturday afternoon.
04:38Callers indicated that approximately 10 individuals were in the water near the vessel, with reported
04:43wave heights reaching 8 feet during 30 knot winds.
04:47EDGOSO, in coordination with local emergency response partners, immediately responded to the area.
05:03The 10 passengers were on board a gold 27-foot Chris Craft vessel.

05:13The 7-foot pequeños are in the water near the vessel.

05:23So far it can be confirmed that the USCG and California State Parks responded to DL Bliss
05:47State Park after a seasonal lifeguard and ranger saw people in the water.
05:52They were able to get two onto the nearby rocks and start performing CPR.
05:58It's a beautiful day, beautiful day in case anyone's wondering, there's been a few loose
06:15boats.
06:16There's about three of them there.
06:18There's another sailboat that's come off of the dinghy over there, so great day.
06:25As the Coast Guard arrived, they saw another person in the water and the lifeguard swam
06:31to assist.
06:33The person in the water and the lifeguard were pulled onto the Coast Guard boat and transported
06:41to Leicester Beach.
06:42EMS arrived at the beach, but that person was pronounced deceased, said the USCG.
06:48The identities of the deceased will not be released until next-of-kin notifications have
06:52been made.
06:53The EDSO helicopter was circling the beach, reportedly searching for people still missing in the lake,
07:00and as of 9 p.m., a USCG airplane is in the area.
07:04Witnesses on the lake said around 3 p.m., the wind suddenly came from the north, creating
07:11eight-to-ten-foot troughs.
07:34But Captain Joby Cefalu said that size is worse than 30-foot waves on the sea.
07:39He helped set up a triage at the Tahoe Keys Marina office to help with hypothermia victims,
07:45and said the Keys staff were all rock stars working hard to get people to safety.
07:50He's been on the lake for a few decades and had never seen it as bad as it was on Saturday.
07:55It was a very, very tragic day on Lake Tahoe, said Cefalu.
