00:02:19You need these meetings, and I'm going to make sure you get to them.
00:02:23Yeah, well the only reason you go to them is to get into Brian's pants.
00:02:27You're sick.
00:02:28Yeah, but you're a whore.
00:02:35Of course you want to charge it.
00:02:49Hey, bring me that flashlight in the glove box.
00:02:57Any time now.
00:03:08Come on.
00:03:09What reason would you have to mess around right now?
00:03:19Hey! How's the retreat going?
00:03:41Well, I could spend the night if you really think it's necessary.
00:03:47if you really think it's necessary.
00:03:50Uh-uh, this has been kind of a punk lately.
00:03:56Or maybe you could just call him and tell him to chill.
00:04:00Yeah, okay, I'll sweat.
00:04:06Hey, Mom, my boss is calling me.
00:04:09Yeah, I love you, too.
00:04:11Taylor, all right, I'm on my way.
00:04:17Where you been?
00:04:27Sorry.
00:04:28What happened?
00:04:30Double homicide.
00:04:32Cause of death is undetermined.
00:04:34Undetermined, but it looks like they were...
00:04:37That's exactly what it looks like.
00:04:39How the hell does it happen?
00:04:41Who found it?
00:04:43They were on their way to an NA meeting.
00:04:47Someone leaving the meeting found them.
00:04:50So what's our statement going to be?
00:04:53Our statement is what it looks like.
00:04:56It's a double homicide.
00:04:58Cause of death is undetermined.
00:05:00Have you ever seen anything like this before in your life?
00:05:04No.
00:05:06No.
00:05:19Oh, my God.
00:05:21Oh, oh.
00:05:22Oh, oh.
00:05:25Pay up.
00:05:41You get a bigger handicap next time.
00:05:45You're sure your ancestors aren't from Africa?
00:05:47Now pay up before I take it from you.
00:05:50I'm starting to feel bullied.
00:05:56You know, if you would just get off your butt every now and then, you wouldn't be so out
00:06:01of shape.
00:06:02Who needs it?
00:06:04I feel like ice cream.
00:06:07Oh, I can't.
00:06:08I gotta go home for a family dinner.
00:06:10My dad wouldn't be home by 6.
00:06:12You obviously listen to everything he says?
00:06:14Well, they're leaving in the morning and they wanted us to spend a night together.
00:06:19Well, so are my family, but you don't see me hanging on to them.
00:06:23Hey, you're good for camping tomorrow, right?
00:06:26Oh yeah, yeah.
00:06:27Good.
00:06:28See?
00:06:29Now, we have plenty of stuff to talk about.
00:06:31The plan's a discussion.
00:06:32Your family wouldn't want you to be unprepared.
00:06:34We go over, we get a few quick scoops, I tell you the plan, and you're home.
00:06:38Plenty of time for your family dinner.
00:06:40Let's go.
00:06:41Come on.
00:06:46We're gonna get off the road here, and then we're going to hike up to here.
00:06:51And, uh, it should be pretty isolated.
00:06:53There shouldn't be anybody up there.
00:06:54Okay.
00:06:55But what if we kept going?
00:06:56Like, uh, way up here where the, yeah, there, like, where the road breaks off?
00:07:00If you want to be riding all day.
00:07:01Well, it wouldn't take me all day.
00:07:03Anyway, Russ camped there last year, and he says that there's a lot of great spots back there.
00:07:09Russ is kind of weird.
00:07:11Why?
00:07:12Because he's emancipated and does what he wants?
00:07:14Maybe.
00:07:33What?
00:07:34Hey, uh, can you pick up some hot wings on your way home to babysit me?
00:08:02No.
00:08:03Why?
00:08:04Didn't Mom leave something out for you?
00:08:08No.
00:08:09Just a note saying you'd bring something home.
00:08:12She didn't say anything to me.
00:08:14She must have forgot to mention it.
00:08:16I don't like her.
00:08:17Come on.
00:08:18It's on the way home from your Bible study.
00:08:20If, uh, that's where you go on Wednesdays.
00:08:23Fine.
00:08:25Good boy.
00:08:26Remember, traditional spicy barbecue, and you can get 16 of them, or get 24 so you can have some.
00:08:31Well, hanging out with someone that long, it's just like having a girlfriend.
00:08:38Jamie and I lead the youth group together.
00:08:40We hang out sometimes.
00:08:41That is all.
00:08:42I'm pretty sure something's hanging out.
00:08:43I told you it is not like that.
00:08:44We're fine just being friends.
00:08:45With a capital F?
00:08:46Hello?
00:08:47Hey.
00:08:48What's up?
00:08:49My parents told me that they'd really prefer if an adult came with us tomorrow.
00:09:04And so, could you ask Ben if he could come?
00:09:11Oh, did your boyfriend break up with you?
00:09:18Hey, uh, Spence, you still there?
00:09:20What the hell, man?
00:09:22They already said that we can go.
00:09:23Now they're just trying to screw us and change their minds at the last second.
00:09:26Look, I don't know, that's just what they said, and I really want to go, so can you just ask him?
00:09:33Sure.
00:09:35I know he's free, so, uh, I'm pretty sure it can go.
00:09:40Just plan on it, unless I call you and tell you otherwise, okay?
00:09:42Okay.
00:09:43He's so not asking him.
00:09:47No, not asking him.
00:09:52Breakups are tough, huh?
00:09:54I fold them.
00:09:55Cheer.
00:10:05Yes?
00:10:09I'd highly recommend not, sir.
00:10:13Well, I don't think he's ready.
00:10:17I will.
00:10:38Where's Ben?
00:10:40The toad bailed on me at the last second.
00:10:43Seriously, he just came out this morning and said that he was doing something else.
00:10:46I swear, the only reason why he exists is to piss on my life.
00:10:55Oh, you infant!
00:10:57We've been planning this for three weeks!
00:11:00And you're just gonna walk out now because your parents pull something on the last second?
00:11:04Come on!
00:11:07For all they know, Ben is going to be there.
00:11:09And that's all they're going to know unless you tell them.
00:11:11Just act like a man for once and do something that you want to do.
00:11:15Time to keep up!
00:11:16Ha ha!
00:11:17So you do have a pair!
00:11:20Time to keep up!
00:11:21Time to keep up!
00:11:22Time to keep up!
00:11:23Time to keep up!
00:11:24Ha ha!
00:11:25So you do have a pair!
00:11:26Time to keep up!
00:11:27Time to keep up!
00:11:28Time to keep up!
00:11:29Time to keep up!
00:11:30Time to keep up!
00:11:31Time to keep up!
00:11:32Time to keep up!
00:11:33Ha ha!
00:11:34So you do have a pair!
00:11:35Time to keep up!
00:11:36See!
00:11:40нимidad
00:12:13Seriously, Jerry?
00:12:43Hey, I just read the autopsy report, and that's just what it looked like.
00:12:54They were both crushed to death.
00:12:56At least they couldn't find evidence of anything else.
00:12:59Crushed with what?
00:13:01That's strange. They had no idea.
00:13:03They weren't run over by a vehicle.
00:13:05There wasn't anything other than dirt, road embedded in their skin and clothes.
00:13:09They couldn't figure out how it was done, but there was one lead.
00:13:13In addition to marijuana, they found a complex chemical in both their systems.
00:13:17The lab didn't recognize.
00:13:18How was that a lead?
00:13:19Remember the one guy that didn't show up at the NA meeting the couple was headed to?
00:13:22Well, it turns out he's got a degree in chemistry.
00:13:27I guess that means we're looking for Simon Miles.
00:13:31Yes.
00:13:32All right.
00:13:45Sweet.
00:13:47Awesome.
00:13:48All right.
00:13:59Let's start setting up.
00:14:02Come on.
00:14:04Have fun with that.
00:14:05Oh, not something interesting.
00:14:35What?
00:14:36I was talking to Russ the other day, and he told me his brother told him, his brother's
00:14:42in college, he said he told him that the only reason why meth kills you is because it's
00:14:47made by a bunch of idiots who use a bunch of ingredients that have a bunch of other crap
00:14:52in them, and that's the stuff that really kills you.
00:14:54Yeah, but it's still addicting, though, right?
00:14:57Yeah, but so is sugar and caffeine, but that stuff's all over the place.
00:15:01But that's legal.
00:15:03It was once legal to own people, but that didn't make it right.
00:15:08And just because something is legal doesn't make it right, and just because something is
00:15:12illegal doesn't make it wrong.
00:15:14Right?
00:15:14So what are you saying?
00:15:21You're going to start doing meth now?
00:15:23No, wait.
00:15:23I'm just saying people shouldn't make such a big deal about it.
00:15:26Hey, uh, Spence.
00:15:52Spence.
00:15:53What?
00:15:54Come here.
00:15:55What?
00:15:56Come here.
00:15:57What?
00:15:58Check it out.
00:15:59Uh, what is it?
00:16:00I don't know.
00:16:01Huh.
00:16:02Hey, uh, back there, did you hear like, uh, some bells or something a couple seconds ago?
00:16:17Uh, uh, old?
00:16:19Hmm.
00:16:20Going nuts on me, dude?
00:16:24Maybe.
00:16:25Maybe.
00:16:26Ah, dang it.
00:16:27Fire's out.
00:16:28Darn.
00:16:29I'll start it.
00:16:30I got it.
00:16:31Where are the matches?
00:16:32I got a lighter.
00:16:33Oh, okay.
00:16:35And go.
00:16:36Ah, dang it.
00:16:47Fire's out.
00:16:50Darn.
00:16:51I'll start it.
00:16:52Alright, I got it.
00:16:55Where are the matches?
00:16:57I got a lighter.
00:16:58Oh, okay.
00:17:06Hey, Jerry.
00:17:12Yeah.
00:17:15Would you like to try something?
00:17:27Alright, thanks.
00:17:28Not at home, he's not answering his cell phone.
00:17:30So I'll swing by his house and take it from there.
00:17:32Okay.
00:17:36It doesn't look like he's home.
00:17:44It doesn't.
00:18:03Miles!
00:18:04Miles!
00:18:06Are we still going to talk to the neighbors?
00:18:30Yes.
00:18:30No, thanks. I'm Lutheran.
00:18:49Ma'am, we're officers. I'm Detective Baker.
00:18:52This is Detective Taylor.
00:18:53Sorry, officers.
00:18:54It's alright. Got a couple questions for you, if you don't mind.
00:18:57Sure, of course.
00:18:57I'd like to ask you about your neighbor across the street.
00:19:00Nobody seems to have seen him around.
00:19:02Sorry, I don't know much about him, really.
00:19:04He keeps to himself, and he hasn't said more than just a few words to anyone around here.
00:19:10When was the last time you saw him?
00:19:13Two days ago, I guess.
00:19:15At night, two days ago.
00:19:16I walked my dog after dark.
00:19:18He nearly ran us over driving away from the house, but I haven't seen him since.
00:19:22Any idea to the hours he keeps?
00:19:25Um, let me think.
00:19:28He comes home late at night a lot, I guess.
00:19:31That's all.
00:19:32Okay.
00:19:33Well, thanks for your time.
00:19:35Have a good day.
00:19:36Sure.
00:19:37Have a good day, man.
00:19:37Thanks. You too.
00:19:38Ah!
00:19:57Dude!
00:19:58We said no shots to the head!
00:20:04No, we said no shots to the face.
00:20:05How about the nuts?
00:20:19The child seemed normal.
00:20:21He grew like other children, but showed disturbing tendencies.
00:20:28He seemed like hurting other children.
00:20:30Sometimes, slaughtered small animals.
00:20:33On his tenth birthday, his father revealed to him that he had been pledged to Satan before
00:20:40his birth and was to enter his service on his next birthday.
00:20:45Dude, I live in this town.
00:20:47I've heard the legend before.
00:20:49This frightened him.
00:20:51He tried to run away, but he couldn't hide from his fate.
00:20:56On his eleventh birthday, he succumbed to the evil within him.
00:21:03That night, he killed three people, including his father.
00:21:11Since then, he's lived in these woods, lying dormant until every eleven years he rises to
00:21:23feed on the souls of those he murders before casting them into hell.
00:21:27And I still scared you.
00:21:37Do you see someone?
00:21:43Nice try.
00:21:45Vince, I'm being serious.
00:21:46Lame try.
00:21:47I'm not kidding.
00:21:48I saw someone.
00:21:49Go see if the thing or whatever it is is still there.
00:21:51Go see if the thing or whatever it is is still there.
00:22:22Go see if the thing or whatever it is is still there.
00:22:51so did you kill it or do you have to marry it where's the flashlight I dropped it so go get
00:23:06it be my guest now I'm tired uh but let's call it okay
00:23:18yeah yeah more that stuff right now I'm just saying they didn't try to find someone who
00:23:29looks similar for the second one so you're saying you're hot for what's her name Maggie
00:23:33Gyllenhaal no I just don't like that they recast the part just saying her name was on the tip of
00:23:38your tongue everybody knows her name yet she doesn't know yours they just needed a hot gal
00:23:46to play her part but if you can't get the original you should at least try to find someone who looks
00:23:52similar she does no way they might as well as use Jake so you're saying you would have liked it
00:23:57better if it was called the broke-back night I watch many of the new ones I like the ones with
00:24:07Keaton that doesn't date you at all takeouts aren't so bad well wait till you've done more of them
00:24:18how do you get through them should bring a book what do you like to read a little box
00:24:25paranormal encounters didn't figure you for the type
00:24:33okay so Simon Miles yeah and how does a kid get to be like that I mean you don't just wake up one
00:24:46day and decide you're going to cut up your parents with a kitchen knife
00:24:48and then it's leading to be possessed and what kind of mental disorder makes you do that
00:24:55I don't think it was something that just happened I think it's a lot of
00:25:04things years of dysfunction and abuse these things just built up over time
00:25:08but if you know you're doing something wrong and you continue to do it
00:25:13you don't get to decide how it ends you sure you don't think he's possessed
00:25:18we all have a sense of right and wrong we repress our God-given conscience we get a world like we
00:25:28have today people convince themselves that they can sin or there is no sin or they just don't care
00:25:35and they end up butchering their parents with a kitchen knife very philosophical of you I thought
00:25:41I was a religious one well I'm not dumb enough not to believe in God people choose not to believe
00:25:48in one because that might mean they can't do what they want believe in the case of Simon Miles he had
00:25:55just had it with his parents he decided to kill them he decided to plead that he was insane
00:26:02and get off on an insanity plea
00:26:05kid can't do something like that and not be suffering some kind of mental disorder
00:26:13you know when I was a rookie back in Idaho there was this guy named Tarek
00:26:25seemed like a nice enough guy I'd seen him around town down at the bars with the guys
00:26:30one day we get a call for a domestic disturbance I was surprised when Tarek answered the door
00:26:38whatever had happened was over by the time we got there
00:26:44he had told us that he had knocked over a vase
00:26:49anyway a few days later we got another call
00:27:00partner and I showed up Sherry answered the door this time
00:27:06her nose was bleeding and her face was starting to swell
00:27:10took Tarek in for 24 hours and find him
00:27:18and the next day
00:27:20I went to his house and I told him
00:27:24exactly what would happen
00:27:25if he ever touched her again
00:27:27but
00:27:32three days later
00:27:34we responded to the shots fired call at the residence
00:27:39three cars and myself showed up
00:27:42I kicked the door in
00:27:46I found Sherry in the kitchen
00:27:48blast of the shotgun that knocked her off the chair
00:27:53split her head wide open
00:27:56and the kids
00:27:59well the kids were in a corner
00:28:03blast from the shotgun that knocked the boy right on top of the girl
00:28:10he tried to shield her
00:28:13he had finished the girl off point blank range
00:28:17just as we started to go look for him
00:28:23he walks through the back door
00:28:26and he acts like nothing has happened
00:28:29and he's covered in blood and brain matter
00:28:33and I put a bullet in his eye
00:28:37they met you with a shotgun?
00:28:44yeah
00:28:44I couldn't figure it out how he could have done something like that
00:28:50so I spent every spare second I could trying to figure it out
00:28:53since he and Sherry were dead
00:28:56I couldn't ask him
00:28:57after what I found in his closet
00:29:00I pieced it together pretty quickly
00:29:02turns out he had a large amount of
00:29:07shall we say
00:29:08illegal and disgusting material in there
00:29:10Sherry found out
00:29:13she was going to call the cops that day
00:29:17he didn't take it so well
00:29:19he'd been doing something he knew was wrong for a long time
00:29:24and when he was found out
00:29:26let's just hope we find Miles soon
00:29:31you
00:29:45you
00:29:50you
00:29:54you
00:29:55Jerry!
00:30:11Would you turn that off?
00:30:19Jerry?
00:30:23Hello?
00:30:25If anyone's out there, I'll gut you if you screw with me.
00:30:44You're up, don't be surprised to see you right now.
00:30:48I'm sorry.
00:30:50You're running me off.
00:30:51You're running me off.
00:30:53I'm back, I'm back.
00:30:56I'm back.
00:30:58Miles?
00:31:19Preparing to administer compound 86.
00:31:25What are you doing, Miles?
00:31:32The subject is showing signs of aggression.
00:31:37Trent knows where I am.
00:31:40He's gonna kill you, sick-
00:31:42The subject is extremely contained.
00:31:57Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.
00:32:01Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.
00:32:08That was Maggie.
00:32:10What?
00:32:11Did I miss anything?
00:32:15Absolutely nothing.
00:32:17So what now?
00:32:20Miles?
00:32:43Miles?
00:32:48Miles?
00:32:55Looking for something?
00:33:13Look.
00:33:20Eckert Pharmacy.
00:33:21It's not local.
00:33:22We'll have to look into that.
00:33:26You wanna get some breakfast?
00:33:35No, I'm alright.
00:33:36Sure?
00:33:37It's on me.
00:33:38I'm sure.
00:33:39I'll just swing by my house in a couple of hours if that's alright.
00:33:51Alright.
00:33:52I'll make some calls, figure out what to do next.
00:33:54It takes me off, man.
00:34:07Some losers are up here putting holes in my tent.
00:34:11If I find them, I'm gonna kill them.
00:34:24Your tent?
00:34:25Don't you mean your dad's tent?
00:34:26Yeah, my dad's tent.
00:34:28You mean your dad's going to kill you.
00:34:35I'm sorry.
00:34:51I'm sorry.
00:34:53Unless the Firefly comes fromĺs.
00:34:55Which sĺs.
00:34:56Watch the expert.
00:34:58Right, right, right.
00:35:23You want to help me find them?
00:35:26Try five feet to your left.
00:35:47I got it.
00:35:48Are these tire tracks?
00:36:03Yeah, yeah.
00:36:05Well, they got to go somewhere.
00:36:09Score!
00:36:15Doesn't look like anyone's home.
00:36:22No one's been working on it recently, too.
00:36:37Hey, look.
00:36:50Hey look, wow, it's probably just some guy on bath salts running around and cutting random
00:37:10things into trees and tents and himself, crap he could be in here, well let's just hope
00:37:17that he's dead in the woods and not watching us waiting to do god knows what, hey give me
00:37:23back my knife, you go upstairs and check up there, I'll be down here.
00:37:47What the hell Spence?
00:37:56What are you doing here?
00:37:57Apparently trying not to get killed.
00:37:58You could have been a crackhead psycho for all we know, and besides, what are you doing
00:38:03here?
00:38:04Checking up on you guys, I figured you'd probably be up to no good and what do you know, you're
00:38:08trespassing.
00:38:09I didn't figure you'd do this Jeremy.
00:38:12If this is the type of stuff you guys are gonna get into up here then you better pack up and
00:38:15go home right now.
00:38:16Do you have nothing better to do than follow me around and tell me what to do?
00:38:19I'm not a kid anymore Ben, I don't need checked up on.
00:38:22If you act like a kid you're gonna get treated like one Spence.
00:38:29You hit like one too.
00:38:31Go to hell.
00:38:32Sorry Ben.
00:38:36I know it's not your fault, just try not to break any more laws okay?
00:38:40Stay away from here.
00:38:54Now who does he think he is?
00:38:57Man, who does he think he is?
00:39:10I can't even have a little camping trip without him screwing it up.
00:39:14Like I'm some sort of infant who's too stupid not to kill itself if it isn't watched every second.
00:39:19Yeah, it sucks being treated like a kid all the time.
00:39:22My parents tell me what movies I can and can't watch, what games I can play, who I can hang out with.
00:39:26And not only that, but they have the nerve to tell me how to live the rest of my life when I don't even, when I'm not even at home.
00:39:34And Ben, he has this mission to control my life, making sure I don't do anything he doesn't want me to do.
00:39:42And he doesn't even live with us anymore.
00:39:45A guy can only take so much.
00:39:47My parents hardly let me hang out with anyone, even from like the youth group.
00:39:51Like anyone who wasn't raised by their standards is going to be a bad influence or gay or something.
00:39:56Wait, they think someone at youth group is gay?
00:40:00Yeah, my dad does.
00:40:01Wait, who?
00:40:02Russ.
00:40:03Because he has that lisp?
00:40:07Well, you know, your parents are bad, but...
00:40:09Honestly?
00:40:11Don't actually like me hanging out with you that much.
00:40:14Seriously, why?
00:40:16I just don't know.
00:40:17I don't know.
00:40:18Well, screw them.
00:40:20See, that, that's what pisses me off.
00:40:23They think that we are incapable of making any decisions on our own.
00:40:27And they try to control us and force us to be who they think we should be.
00:40:31Damn it, it's insulting.
00:40:33Yeah, I, I know.
00:40:34I mean, oh, at dinner last night, in front of everyone,
00:40:38my dad gives me like this 20-minute prepared speech on how to be safe camping
00:40:42and how I shouldn't let your bad habits rub off onto me
00:40:45and how I should try to steer our conversation toward God.
00:40:49He, he even gave me a list of Bible verses to bring God
00:40:51since we were missing church.
00:40:53I mean, come on.
00:40:54And, like, he's thinking like,
00:40:56if I'm not thinking about the Bible 24-7, I'm going to hell.
00:40:59It's, it's stupid.
00:41:00And then he drops the really big news.
00:41:03Ben has to come along.
00:41:04Man, who needs it?
00:41:09I'd move out now, but they wouldn't let me.
00:41:12And I can't get emancipated.
00:41:13I checked.
00:41:14So I figure, just take advantage of the free rent and food.
00:41:19And then when I turn 18, I'm gone.
00:41:21Not so much as a goodbye.
00:41:23I hear that.
00:41:24No, I haven't said anything to him yet.
00:41:46Well, I understand, sir.
00:41:48Timing just isn't good.
00:41:51Yes, but I don't know everything that I need to know
00:41:53when I have a job to do.
00:41:54One that involves stopping people from dying.
00:42:00Yes, sir.
00:42:01I will.
00:42:02As soon as it's expedient.
00:42:16Howdy.
00:42:17Hey.
00:42:20I feel like a new man.
00:42:22What do you got?
00:42:22A couple of things.
00:42:24Sent you an email.
00:42:26Okay.
00:42:27Anything solid?
00:42:28Not solid, but interesting.
00:42:30We'll find something if we keep digging, though.
00:42:35I was wondering something.
00:42:37What's that?
00:42:38I know you've been doing this a lot longer than I have.
00:42:40We keep putting a lot into getting to Miles.
00:42:46Other than the fact that he's got a prior
00:42:48and he has the education to be able to make this hallucinogen.
00:42:52What else do we got on him?
00:42:55No, you're right.
00:42:56I'll tell you what.
00:42:57I'll use the head real quick.
00:42:58You check your emails and we'll decide what to do from there.
00:43:01Let's get you out of here.
00:43:02Alright, what do you think?
00:43:32I think I'd like to know what you weren't telling me.
00:43:35About what?
00:43:36Whoever blew up your phone a second ago obviously wants me to know something.
00:43:40I wasn't snooping, glanced at your phone and happened to see part of a text.
00:43:44Besides, I'm not the one who's withholding.
00:43:53So?
00:43:57For 22 years I've been working for a classified branch of the government.
00:44:02You know what?
00:44:07I think I'm done with it.
00:44:10Why?
00:44:11You're winning dude.
00:44:12No, I mean like with everything.
00:44:13Ben coming up here was the last straw.
00:44:17I'm just...
00:44:18Done with it man.
00:44:19Just done.
00:44:20I mean like what are you gonna do?
00:44:24Running away seems a lot better.
00:44:26Better the more I think about it.
00:44:27Well, we don't have to run away.
00:44:28We could just stay away.
00:44:29Well, look at the balls on this guy.
00:44:30Yeah, I like it.
00:44:31We could stay up here for a few more days.
00:44:32It's not much but it makes a statement.
00:44:33Yeah.
00:44:34Except, um, when our parents come home and they find that we're not there, then they'll
00:44:39freak out, uh, and start looking for us and call the cops.
00:44:42Which means, um, we don't have to run away.
00:44:44It's a lot better.
00:44:45Better the more I think about it.
00:44:46Well, we don't have to run away.
00:44:47We could just stay away.
00:44:48Well, look at the balls on this guy.
00:44:50Yeah, I like it.
00:44:52We could stay up here for a few more days.
00:44:54I mean, it's not much but it makes a statement.
00:44:57Yeah.
00:44:58Except, um, when our parents come home and they find that we're not there, then they'll
00:45:04freak out, uh, and start looking for us and call the cops, which means Ben, so it wouldn't
00:45:11be worth all the trouble.
00:45:13But, since I'm gonna have to go down to get extra food since we're staying longer, I could
00:45:19leave a note at my parents' house and text your parents from your phone when I'm back
00:45:23in range, then they'll both know what we're doing and really won't be able to do anything
00:45:27about it.
00:45:28Balls and brains.
00:45:30You know, I think I'm a little gay for you right now.
00:45:34Uh, let's do it.
00:45:36Okay.
00:45:37I'll be back here in a couple of hours.
00:45:39I'll be going a lot faster without you slowing me down.
00:45:41Oh, you're gonna make me pick all this up by myself?
00:45:44It'll be getting dark since I'm gonna need his hat out as soon as possible so I can get
00:45:47back as soon as possible.
00:45:48Well, I guess that gets you off the hook.
00:45:50And besides, I needed something to do anyway.
00:45:54Oh, uh, hey.
00:45:56Uh, one for the road.
00:46:18Uh, two years I've been working for a classified branch of the government.
00:46:28We're responsible for handling unique and particular incidents when they arise.
00:46:33We've done work for them all over the country using various covers.
00:46:37Some have lasted several years.
00:46:39You're saying detective is your cover?
00:46:43Yes.
00:46:44Simon Miles is your assignment.
00:46:47Well, there's more to that story.
00:46:48Our department first took notice of Miles when he killed his parents, but after he was declared
00:46:57insane, forgot about him for a few months until one of our people discovered something.
00:47:02They were investigating seemingly unrelated series of peculiar suicides that stretched across the country.
00:47:10None of the victims were connected, so local police never put anything together.
00:47:16But our guy did.
00:47:18And in every case, victims had at least one prescription at a local pharmacy.
00:47:23Researching that, Simon Miles had worked at those pharmacies and filled those prescriptions.
00:47:28And he moved shortly after their deaths.
00:47:33Other than that, the only thing linking him to the victims was a hallucinogen our lab identified.
00:47:40That would amplify certain emotions in the brain, making them receptive to influence.
00:47:48Kind of a form of mind control.
00:47:51Now, a few couple of Miles' education, his proximity to the victims, and that makes him a likely suspect.
00:48:00One more thing.
00:48:02In a couple of cases, witnesses reported somebody lurking near the victims prior to their deaths.
00:48:08We think Miles likes to watch his victims succumb to the drug, like lab rats.
00:48:21...
00:48:22...
00:48:26...
00:48:31...
00:48:32...

00:54:30so
00:54:37so
00:54:42so
00:54:46so
00:54:52so
00:54:56Everything?
00:55:24Nothing.
00:55:26it's simple
00:55:29it's the same one from the car
00:55:31you sure?
00:55:33yeah
00:55:33okay Miles why are you here?
00:55:40it's apparent he hasn't grown or dried anything
00:55:42he did have anything here
00:55:46he's cleared it out
00:55:46there was nothing in his truck
00:55:49so if he did
00:55:51he's cleared it out by now
00:55:52so why'd he come back?
00:55:56looking for a place to hide?
00:55:59he's doing a good job of it so far
00:56:00we should have a forensic team go over this place
00:56:04I thought you'd check the upstairs
00:56:08that's what I did
00:56:09Miles! Simon Miles!
00:56:16what do you want?
00:56:17Detective Baker
00:56:18I'd like to talk to you if you throw down your gun
00:56:20I don't think you're here just to talk
00:56:22why do you think I'm here?
00:56:24how about you tell me?
00:56:26you had to know it'd catch up to you sooner or later
00:56:28what is it?
00:56:30it seems a wake of death follows you everywhere you go
00:56:34everybody dies
00:56:36everybody's met somebody who has died or will die
00:56:39that doesn't mean that they killed them
00:56:40Denver, LA, San Francisco
00:56:43Seattle, Phoenix
00:56:45there's 12 dead
00:56:4814 with a couple from a few days ago
00:56:50all died with drugs in their system
00:56:54the same hallucinogen
00:56:55and all interacted with you
00:56:57everything you mentioned is purely coincidental
00:57:00not even circumstantial
00:57:01so either you're here in official capacity for some other reason
00:57:05or you're here unofficially chasing a very weak and outrageous theory
00:57:08why don't you tell me what you intend to do?
00:57:11Miles, the agency I work for
00:57:13I'm keeping an eye on you
00:57:15they've authorized me to handle this situation
00:57:18at my own discretion
00:57:19you've got a few choices
00:57:21either toss down your gun
00:57:24come down here so I can arrest you
00:57:26or my partner
00:57:28is going to put a bullet through the floor
00:57:29good choice, Simon
00:57:39stay there
00:57:40until I tell you to come down
00:57:42Miles

00:58:14don't move
00:58:18get Miles
00:58:42Miles.
00:59:12Is he alive?
00:59:15Not anymore.
00:59:16Did he say anything?
00:59:18No.
00:59:19You know, it's the only lead we had.
00:59:23Trent, was that...
00:59:29Yeah.
00:59:32My brother and a friend of his were camping in the area.
00:59:35They should be home by now, but with the way things are, I'd like to check on them.
00:59:41Yeah, alright.
00:59:43Let's go rip Miles first.
00:59:52You said Simon Miles wasn't your original assignment?
00:59:55A branch of the government I work for is called PIT, Paranormal Investigative Team.
01:00:00Paranormal, like ghosts and UFOs and stuff?
01:00:03Well, those are jazzed up, but real versions of those.
01:00:06You're kidding.
01:00:07You get to find out what those things are?
01:00:09We have people to deal with them and others to cover it up.
01:00:12Whether it's an exorcism, a haunting, or a Roswell landing.
01:00:15We deal with the situation.
01:00:17Cover it up.
01:00:18You guys were behind the balloon landing in Roswell?
01:00:21No, that was a cover up for something much bigger.
01:00:24So we crashed a plane and said it was a weather balloon.
01:00:27Wait, back up.
01:00:28You said exorcist.
01:00:30Is PIT a religious group?
01:00:32We use tools at work.
01:00:33So if we encounter a possession, we call an on-staff exorcist because it works.
01:00:39And you're here investigating something supernatural?
01:00:41Well, do you know the legend of Chelsea Martin's Beast Child?
01:00:45Wait, you're saying that's real?
01:00:46Well, every 11 years it comes out of hibernation and looks for three victims.
01:00:50The first is crushed, the second is stabbed to death, and the third is immolated.
01:00:55Now, I don't know why I chose to crush two this time, but I'm more concerned with preventing
01:01:01the next two or four.
01:01:03In researching these victims, I found that each one had some big secret sin that it had
01:01:08been keeping, and it was revealed during each of the investigations.
01:01:11And Simon Miles killed his parents, sells pot to high schoolers, and messes with people's
01:01:19minds.
01:01:20A human lure.
01:01:31There's no answer.
01:01:34Let's go to Jeremy's house first.
01:01:35It's on the way, and Spence is there almost all the time.
01:01:40That looks like Jeremy's bike.
01:01:50Boys?
01:01:55Here's Spence's phone.
01:01:57No new calls.
01:02:07Apparently he's got something to hide.
01:02:09Let's check the house, make sure the boys aren't here, and we'll look at Spence's house.
01:02:15Sounds good.
01:02:18Boys?
01:02:21Ben!
01:02:25Somebody broke in.
01:02:26No glass on the floor.
01:02:27Nobody broke out.
01:02:28Spence?
01:02:41Boys?
01:02:42They're not in the room.
01:02:43Any idea where they could be?
01:02:44Other than their camp, no.
01:02:45Alright.
01:02:46Let's start there.
01:02:47They were on the ridge.
01:02:48Their camp could be anywhere.
01:02:49Alright, let's go search party.
01:02:50Let's go.
01:02:51Let's go.
01:02:52Let's go.
01:02:54Let's go.
01:02:55Let's go.
01:02:56Alright, let's go search party.
01:02:57Let's go.
01:02:58Let's go.
01:02:59Let's go.
01:03:05Oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:03:06Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:03:18Oh, oh, oh.
01:03:22Oh no!
01:03:33What's this? Dude?
01:03:35Is that you?
01:03:37Jeremy, oh my god, Jeremy!
01:03:39Dude, if you missed me out much you just sort of taken a-
01:03:41Jeremy!
01:03:43Oh! Oh!
01:03:45Jeremy!
01:03:47Jeremy!
01:03:49I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, no, please, wait, wait, stop, stop, stop.
01:04:04Spence?
01:04:06Medical, this is Detective Taylor, we've got 15 minutes.
01:04:22We're going to stab him in the chest, we are 25 minutes out.
01:04:27Almost there, almost there.
01:04:36It attacked me and then it knocked me out and it destroyed my bike and then I was running
01:04:53and then it was on top of me before you guys arrived and I don't know where it went.
01:04:59We almost hit you when you came across, we didn't see anything.
01:05:03How could you not see it? It was right there.
01:05:07Spence, did you smoke this?
01:05:14Look at me, where did you get this?
01:05:25Russ?
01:05:26Russell Brenner, he's a kid in my youth group, just got picked up for possession.
01:05:31You know where he got it from?
01:05:36You know you need to tell us.
01:05:37The man we've been looking for is selling marijuana laced with a very powerful hallucinogen.
01:05:43You think I hallucinated all this?
01:05:47Spencer, you have to admit this sounds crazy.
01:05:49Do you really expect us to believe everything you just said after you admitted that you're doing drugs?
01:05:54Two days ago we started investigating the death of two people.
01:05:58Both were in possession of marijuana and both had the same hallucinogen in their system.
01:06:02And we need to get this thing stopped before this gets out of hand.
01:06:05Have you heard from Jeremy at the hospital yet?
01:06:12Sorry Spence, he's dead.
01:06:16Look, he cut himself real badly jumping through a window at his house.
01:06:20By the time he caught up to you, he had bled out and collapsed.
01:06:23He died shortly after we arrived at the hospital.
01:06:34Sorry Spence.
01:06:35No, you're not.
01:06:36It's all your fault!
01:06:42I think you need a moment alone.
01:06:53Ben, I'll give you some time to be with your brother.
01:07:21There are still two potential victims out there we need to protect.
01:07:25I've got two officers coming in in a few hours and they're going to need to be debriefed.
01:07:29There are two days between each of the killings.
01:07:31I just hope that that's enough time to stop anyone else from dying.
01:07:35Make sure Spencer's attended to.
01:07:37It's hard to lose a friend, especially at that age.
01:07:40Especially for one that's died in his arms.
01:07:42I'll take him to our parents.
01:07:43They're at a retreat right now, so I'll come in right after that.
01:07:47Alright, good.
01:07:51My passion!
01:07:52I just hope that you don't have to be on the right side.
01:07:55I like to see a little girl.
01:07:56A little girl, I'm a little girl, but don't be on her as usual.
01:07:58I'll talk to you later.
01:07:59I'll go with my son, and I'll come to her as a guy.
01:08:00After this, I'll break my son.
01:08:01I know I'll come to her as well.
01:08:02I'm not only in that.
01:08:03I don't like to say I was supposed to be on her.
01:08:06I don't even know why.
01:08:07I love you.
01:08:08I don't even know that.
01:08:09I love you.
01:08:10I'm not even an honest man.
01:08:12I agree with you.
01:08:14I love you too.
01:08:16I love you too much.
01:08:17Come on, I'm taking you to mom and dad.
01:08:23Why?
01:08:24Because you just lost your best friend and you should be with family.
01:08:42Detective Trent Baker reporting on my investigation into Chelsea Martin's beast child or the beast.
01:08:49On a tip from my partner, Ben Taylor, we investigate a location where the encounter of the beast occurred.
01:08:56It is my opinion that it is physical but not mortal.
01:09:01We were not able to accurately identify it.
01:09:04It killed Simon Miles.
01:09:07Information on that front to follow.
01:09:10I fired two shots into it with no effect.
01:09:16I heard an account from my partner's brother, Spencer Taylor, of his encounter with the beast,
01:09:21but I am unable to determine what part of the story is accurate as he may have been under the influence of Miles' hallucinogen.
01:09:28However, his story is in keeping with others I have researched.
01:09:33I believe Spencer's friend Jeremy also had an encounter with the beast at his house, however, he was killed prior to me interviewing him.
01:09:43It seems to be targeting two victims for each of its methods of death this time.
01:09:49There were two victims crushed.
01:09:52Miles and Jeremy were stabbed to death.
01:09:54That leaves two victims to die by fire.
01:10:01Baker.
01:10:02Hey Baker, it's Hills.
01:10:04How can I help you?
01:10:06I've got a bit of an awkward question for you and I kind of hate to ask, but I have to.
01:10:10Go ahead.
01:10:11Last night we picked up a young man by the name of Russell Brenner with possession.
01:10:16Yeah, I heard that. Is he still there? I'd like to talk to him.
01:10:19Trent, we haven't told anyone.
01:10:22We just brought him in.
01:10:24But Brenner had called someone right before his arrest.
01:10:27Called Ben Taylor.
01:10:29Russell Brenner.
01:10:31He's a kid in my youth group. Just got picked up for possession.
01:10:34But we're putting a lot into getting this guy, Miles.
01:10:37Trent.
01:10:38I may have a lead for you.
01:10:41Let me check the upstairs.
01:10:44Miles.
01:10:45Are you alive?
01:10:46Not anymore.
01:10:47Did he say anything?
01:10:49Will you help?
01:10:52I will.
01:10:56No.
01:10:57I'll find him.
01:11:00I'm not going anywhere.
01:11:12But I like the idea of you getting the hell out of here.
01:11:14Would you just shut up and listen for once?
01:11:16Just listen to me.
01:11:17So much has happened and you need to be with your family, so just get in the car.
01:11:21I could have destroyed you back there.
01:11:24I could have told Trent everything.
01:11:27I'm pretty sure he'd like to know his partner is selling laced drugs to high schoolers.
01:11:32Like he would have believed you, pothead.
01:11:34You know I can prove it.
01:11:36I've been covering your sorry ass for far too long.
01:11:39You must be really high to think that anybody would believe you after the story you've told.
01:11:43You get chased through the woods by a beast.
01:11:46I think you were so jacked up you stabbed him yourself and you don't even know it.
01:11:49I know the cops would love to know what I know.
01:11:51And I'm pretty sure the pastor would like to know that you're selling drugs.
01:11:54And screwing his daughter.
01:12:01Please!
01:12:02Shut up!
01:12:03No please!
01:12:04Shut up!
01:12:05Shut up!
01:12:06Shut up!
01:12:07Please stop!
01:12:08Me!
01:12:09Come on.
01:12:10Come on, Spence.
01:12:11Come on.
01:12:12Somebody who can help.
01:12:40Come on, Spence.
01:12:41Come on.
01:12:45Detective Baker, I need to be on the lookout for a 96 Ford Taurus.
01:12:49It belongs Detective Taylor.
01:13:07Taylor!
01:13:19Taylor!
01:13:28Hey Ben, it's Trent.
01:13:30Give me a call as soon as you can. I got some questions on my report.
01:13:33Got some details that need to be clarified. Call me back as soon as you can.
01:14:03I'll see you next time.
01:14:05Oh, my God.
01:14:35I conclude my report by recommending we abandon future efforts to stop the beast.
01:15:01It is evident we are unable to identify and protect its victims.
01:15:07There is no soul without sin.
01:15:11It is impossible for us to save anyone, even ourselves.
