00:02:08I have been asked by the Commissioner of Police to broadcast the following announcement.
00:02:12Another disastrous train wreck occurred this afternoon near Poland Abbot in which 40 persons
00:02:20were killed and 200 injured. Rescue work was gravely hampered by an outbreak of fire which
00:02:27quickly spread along the derailed coaches. The authorities are convinced that this is another
00:02:33hideous crime perpetrated by the person or persons known popularly as Jack the Wrecker,
00:02:41but whose identity has not so far been established. If any listener tonight has any communication
00:02:49to make, however slight, that may help the police in their endeavours to trace the criminal, he
00:02:55should get into touch with the Commissioner of Police, Scotland Yard, Whitehall or with any
00:03:01police station. A reward of 5,000 pounds is offered for information that will lead to the arrest
00:03:09and conviction of the wrecker himself.
00:03:19A reward of 5,000 pounds is offered for information that will lead to the police station.
