Danny Boyle reveals unique way of filming 28 Years LaterPA
Transcript
00:00You would find those cameras. Now, of course, 28 years later, there's no technology.
00:04The electricity's off, there's no technology of any kind, which throws up interesting questions for the community
00:09about how they evolve, how they survive, obviously, but how culturally they evolve.
00:14So we decided to shoot it on the upgrade of what was ubiquitous, domestic video cameras, like the Canon XR1.
00:23And that's smartphones, that they're everywhere, and you can use them to be very lightweight in the countryside,
00:35which we wanted to leave on Mark.
00:37You can create special rigs with them for the filming of some of the violence,
00:42because you've got to startle with the violence. It's a horror movie.
00:46But also, you can give it to the actors.
00:48They can literally film themselves sometimes, which they did.
00:52Bits and pieces.
00:54So, anyway, it's wonderful to keep challenging with technology.
00:58And horror movies, especially this kind of apocalyptic movie, lets you refresh the palette.
01:04You don't have to go classical.
