00:00So we need to stick quite a list to that, but well done for everything you're doing because it's all about biosphere, it's about the island of man, it's about the importance of understanding our environment and understanding the habitat and looking after our habitat and looking after our wonderful island.
00:18So the grown-ups there are here to announce I'm going to sit at the back, so let's leave them a warm welcome.
00:30Last year and throughout this year we've been working with Kuwake on various little bits and pieces of stuff to get the community involved in the resort.
00:41Behind us here we've got the Mount Murray estate and most of the kids from the estate go to Kuwake school so it sort of strengthens that connection and bond with the hotel.
00:53And what we've done is we've built a wildflower garden and a bug hotel and I've been into the school and sort of talked through various little bits and pieces about sustainability and nature and that kind of thing.
01:06And then what we've also done is a couple of competitions. So we've done a competition for the sort of first half of the school, the younger half, the kids if you will, they've done a herb garden competition.
01:19So what we've done is we've asked them to select eight herbs that we will actually, the winning entry will pick the herbs and will actually plant those and will use the herbs that they've chosen in the menu in the kitchen.
01:33So you can't get much closer from farm to table. And then for the older kids we've put together a competition to design a sustainable hotel.
01:44When, I mean, I rebuilt this hotel with help, not on my own obviously, and we didn't start with a blank canvas.
01:52So what we did is we went out to the guys and said, you know, can you look at a sustainable hotel?
01:57And we looked at it in terms of fun, which is most important because people won't come to a boring hotel.
02:02And then sort of looking at energy and waste and what sort of materials can you build the whole town of?
02:08Because as I say, we didn't have much choice because most of the building was here and we refurbished it as sensitive as we could do.
02:14Yeah.
02:15So we've done that. And then today is all about kind of getting the guys together, looking at the things we've got.
02:21Thanks, Wildlife Trust are here. We've got the bird people. We've got the bat people. We've got the bee people.
02:28We've got Biosphere. The Lieutenant Governor and Lady Lauren have been very kind and they've come out and they've sort of,
02:36they've got their welly boots on and they've had a good route round.
02:40I think they were the best bug hunters that we've got on the squad, you know, and it's just a great community day.
02:47Yeah.
02:48Because it kind of involves the kids in nature, really. So it's really quite good.
02:54Do you feel like today is sort of a culmination of this collaboration you've had going on for a while?
02:58I understand you've had activities in the past in the last few weeks and few months and it's sort of, this is, it's all led up to this really?
03:04Yeah. So this is the end of sort of six months.
03:06Yeah.
03:07But I'd like to think of it more of a kind of a beginning if you know what I mean.
03:11Yeah.
03:12We set out a strategy and this is part of it. This was planned last year in conjunction with Michelle down at Kuwait.
