Uzbekistan buduje ambicje farmaceutyczne, inwestując 1,2 mld euro w centrum produkcji i eksportu

Uzbekistan dynamicznie rozwija swój sektor farmaceutyczny za sprawą Tashkent Pharma Park – projektu o wartości 1,2 mld euro łączącego badania, logistykę, produkcję i szkolenia. Ponieważ Europa dąży do dywersyfikacji łańcuchów dostaw leków, kraj ten staje się strategicznym partnerem.

00:00Uzbekistan
00:05Jest to becoming a regional hub
00:07for pharmaceutical production
00:09and innovation.
00:10At the heart of it,
00:11a new pharma park
00:13in the country's capital,
00:14bringing together R&D,
00:16logistics
00:17and training.
00:18What could it mean for Europe
00:20as it diversifies
00:22critical medicine supplies?
00:27Hello and welcome to the program.
00:29Uzbekistan will be producing
00:31440 million euros
00:33worth of pharmaceutical products
00:35a year by the end of 2025,
00:38with exports making up
00:39just over half that value.
00:41The new 1.2 billion euro
00:44Tashkent Pharma Park
00:46will drive further growth
00:48while also creating
00:4911,000 new jobs.
00:51Take a look at this.
00:53Spread over 1.9 million square metres,
01:02the Tashkent Pharma Park,
01:03when complete,
01:04is set to turbocharge
01:06the sector's expansion.
01:08A hub for distributing pharmaceutical products
01:11is already up and running.
01:14The products come from many countries,
01:18most of them from Europe,
01:20some of them from China and India
01:21and other countries.
01:23And we have around 60 to 70 million packs
01:26coming and going each month.
01:31Around 400 workers keep things moving here,
01:34with products distributed all over Uzbekistan.
01:37In the future,
01:39it's set to become an export hub
01:41for Central Asia, too.
01:44Within a few years,
01:45we plan to expand
01:46from zero to 50 million dollars
01:48of export.
01:49We have already signed
01:50a few contracts
01:51with the major players from Europe
01:52and we are keen
01:53to see other players to come.
01:57Alongside logistics,
01:58the new Pharma Park
02:00will also have a centre
02:01for biotech
02:02and genome research,
02:04a technical university
02:06and manufacturing facilities.
02:08And all within a free economic zone,
02:11offering tax incentives.
02:15There will be huge integration
02:16of all the pillars of the industry
02:18and that's the key.
02:19On top of that,
02:20we are also focusing
02:21on not only developing
02:22the local companies,
02:23but also we are trying
02:24to attract foreign investors.
02:26The reason is different methodology,
02:28different experience
02:29or different skills
02:30and when you put all of them together,
02:32there will be a synergy.
02:33Established pharmaceutical companies
02:37are also driving up growth
02:39in the sector.
02:40This manufacturer
02:41is one of Uzbekistan's largest,
02:44making over 180 types of products,
02:47including tablets and ointments.
02:50It already exports
02:51to 11 countries.
02:53We want to expand our company
02:56to some other countries also,
02:59like Azerbaijan,
03:01some European countries,
03:02Turkey
03:03and some African markets.
03:05We have experience,
03:06we have R&D centre,
03:07we know how to do it,
03:09so it's a good reason
03:10to expand the business
03:12and to supply the high-effective product
03:14in that market also.
03:16It's this kind of growth
03:18that Uzbekistan's looking to replicate
03:20as part of its vision
03:22for the wider sector.
03:24By implementing international standards,
03:27we'll have more opportunity
03:28to go to European countries
03:30or America
03:31or other countries.
03:32This is what we are really
03:33right now working on.
03:34And we also have to prove
03:36that we are strong in R&D sector.
03:38and we are also doing,
03:40as an example,
03:41clinical trials in Uzbekistan.
03:43All paving the way
03:44for this Central Asian country
03:46to claim its place
03:47on the global pharmaceutical map.
03:54Let's speak now to Oybek Shikov
03:56from the Europe Uzbekistan Association
03:58for Economic Cooperation,
04:00who's in Brussels.
04:01What do you think
04:02this all means for Europe then?
04:04Of course,
04:05the deregulation
04:06of Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical sector
04:09bringing to the WTO standards,
04:11the production requirements as well,
04:14means that European companies
04:15have more opportunities
04:16to invest in Uzbekistan,
04:18especially for generic medicines,
04:20potential production
04:21that ultimately might be able
04:23to expand into exports
04:25back to the European Union.
04:27But what about challenges
04:28and how can they be navigated?
04:30Of course,
04:31the pharmaceutical sector
04:32is a very complex
04:33and very regulated sector.
04:34Ensuring high quality
04:35is extremely important.
04:37And I believe that
04:38the dialogue with the government
04:39that is taking place
04:41also through euros
04:42is extremely important element
04:44in that direction.
04:45Thank you very much indeed
04:46for your insights.
04:47Well, that's all we've got time
