Newly released court audio this week captures Travis Decker fighting to keep his three daughters for overnight visits and swearing he’s never done anything to put them at risk.
00:00We've never done anything that was unsafe or anything I wouldn't want to put myself in.
00:05I've never done anything I feel like that puts them in any sort of a risk.
00:09I understand that my current position when I'm by myself isn't ideal, but my daughters aren't a part of that.
00:16I only get to see them over the weekends, and camping is something that the four of us have done since the three of them were in diapers.
00:25Actually, in Columbus, Georgia, we used to go camping every two weeks.
00:28And so part of our time together is getting on to the nature and riding horses and experiencing things.
00:37And on the weekends, I have not been able to provide shelter or the weekends that I stayed at the house with Whitney and the girls
00:44because I wasn't going to try to drag them into a situation that would have been unsafe.
00:49I never wanted to put my daughters in a financial situation that they weren't going to be able to do half of it on the table and roof over their head.
00:58If I have the opportunity to be there for my daughters, I feel like I should be able to be there for them
01:04and not have to find my way to be in and around my daughters.
